I'm glad it worked for you! I wasn't terribly happy with it, but it wanted to be written - several of the fics recently have made me think about their first days together, and how very tactful (as well as careful) Gojyo must have been in caring for Hakkai, for Hakkai to be so at ease with him afterward.

I'm sure Hakkai doesn't think one or two beer cans counts for much! I think Gojyo was both very impressed with youkai!Hakkai and very relieved he didn't leave, and every time he thinks about that, he gets inspired for, oh, 90 seconds or so!

A nice look at what must still be a somewhat-uncomfortable time for them-- better than before in some ways, but... different. :)

And: once or twice Hakkai found him picking up beer cans without being prompted-- LOL! :) Gojyo can be house-trained!

Thanks! I think I'm creeping in little steps toward writing a first-time fic for them, and this is the time period when things would start breaking loose. They've each saved the other's life, and I think realized that they can't really do without each other. But so many other great ones have already been written ... .

As for the house-training ... every time he sees something that reminds him of Hakkai, he has about a 1 in 5 chance of doing a few seconds of work ... .

I really enjoyed this. It was just so damn real, and I could see Hakkai thinking this way.

Thanks so much! He's had so little affection in his life, except for Kanan, and now that things are easier, I think he is subconsciously starting to yearn for it.

I'm ba-a-ack!

Actually, the subtle implication you just brought up wasn't in my conscious mind ... that's a very good point, though. Hakkai and Kanan's early home situation seems to have been pretty rotten, if not as melodamatic as Gojyo and Jien's. Hakkai hasn't had a lot of good models for affectionate relationships.
