Mom stepped on a toothpick and it went in quite deep. But she pulled it out herself, refused to see a doctor about it and covered the bleeding wound with a band-aid.

Omg, ouch ouch ouch. She has to see a doctor, though :( A toothpick can be as dangerous as a rusty nail, if parts came off it under the skin.

Okay, I think is one of those words have different meaning things. Here in America, a toothpick is a bit of wood people use to clean their teeth after a good meal.
