The Sordid World of Sanrio, and other work fun

The store where I work sells a lot of Japanese items. One of our popular sections is the Sanrio section, i.e., Hello Kitty and her multitude of friends (the Website is disgustingly cute and pink....though I was amused to read the FAQ's answer to why Hello Kitty doesn't have a mouth: "Hello Kitty speaks from her heart. HAHA~! This made me crack up so much. ALl these were entertaining, especially your Hello Kitty story, lol.

But your job does has some interesting products. I want the solar powered cat though! Badly...really after seeing the video and it's so cute too. This makes me really want to go to your store to see all these things.

The dog with the tire, haha. I saw it in a magazine and thought it was really cute, but the translation just makes it cuter to me.

Well, if you happen to be anywhere near Portland, Seattle, or Bellevue, WA feel free to stop into an Uwajimaya and see what cute and wacky things you find (my location is currently out of the solar cats, but they were popular, so we'll probably get more ^_^).

I think I might got to Portland sometime in the furture. So I'll be sure to remember the name of your store. SOrry it took me awhile to reply.

I hope when, or if I go to your stores I can get one of those cats. Or I just get to get one.

Wow. I know you're pretty involved with a lot of people's LJs (at least, you seem to have a lengthy friends list), so that's a pretty lofty compliment. Thanks ^_^ Just thought I'd share some of the wackiness from my regular workdays with the masses (and posting stuff like this is much more fun than ranting about awful customers, of which I've dealt with many :P)

Not at all connected to your post, but...

I just finished reading your fic "In My Life," and I have to say that it's the best gravi fic I've ever read. And I've read a whole lot, since I finished the series over a year ago and have been reading fic since. :) I really love the way you write. I'm going to just pretend the gravi novel doesn't exist, since your story is just so much better (both in content and writing style). It can be my new canon. And as fun as Murakami's web manga is, I still much prefer your take on the story.
If someone had described your method of talking with the characters before and after chapters, I would have said it sounded really dumb, but reading it, I actually really liked it. It also lends a Murakami feel to the whole thing, somehow.
I think your characterization was right on and very much kept to the tone of the manga and the direction the series was going.
Thanks so much for sharing something so lovely. :)

Thanks for your compliments. That fic is the one I'm most proud of, so I like hearing that people have enjoyed it. I really wanted the characters to feel real and keep them as in canon as possible ( ... )
