Hello hello! Still on my nostalgia kick. I'm curious to find out roughly when other people entered the fandom, so I made a little poll ( Read more... )

Sept 1995 - Feb 1997 (until the end of Japanese run; DiC syndication)

Since 1995. Been a fan for 12 years .. i'm 24 now. And I still have a place in my heart for the DIC dub, even though I like the original alot better.

Sometimes I find myself mixing names or voices between the original and the dub because it's how I got into SM, but agreed-- like the original way better. Still, memorable! :)

That was my vote too. And I also have a soft spot for the DiC dub ... :[ I remember after getting the internet around '96-'97 and seeing the SoS banners... and then finding out there were other scouts - I was completely shocked lol

Ahhh, SOS... I remember their old flame graphics. I think the earliest sites I'd found were Everchanging SM Gateway and the old Artemis & Luna CC HQ. At least, those are the ones I remember most from those days. I remember finding out about the Starlights on a site, but I'm not completely sure which (maybe the old "Sailor Moon & Sailor Stars Screenshots R" page?) I used to have a silly electronic diary, and I put the Outers' names in it to try to learn them, except I accidentally put "Miruchi" and had her name confused for months.

Anyone else remember those sites? I'm sure someone does. :D

September 1998, when I was 18. ASN had just begun airing season two and after that run, they re-aired the seasons, long (err.. maybe not TOO long) before the US began airing the second season episodes that we got to see first.

Dub, sub, original are all love to me.

Beautiful icon!

Where is ASN based?

Ahhh, and I'd forgotten-- the US got those remaining second season episodes later, right?

ASN is an Eastern Canada station.

If I remember correctly, I think the episodes the US didn't air at first were the ones from the Doom Tree story? Or was it when Prince Diamond and his Black Moon crew showed up. I can't remember. I think we got to see Black Lady first. It's been a while.

(Hey!! If you can locate the Doom Tree box set, let me know!!)

Yeah, it went through part of the doom tree episodes, ending at the bridge episode.

I know exactly when I saw the first ep of SM. November 25 2000. Needed an extra weekly hire video to get the deal from the video shop. Wanted to know what sort of show would need a bright pink case. ^^;; Only eps of the dub I've seen, the first 3 DiC ep. Then I quickly downloaded the fansub of ep 25 (when Makoto appears).

Wow-- you remember the DAY?! Did you write an entry somewhere or otherwise record it? Because that's a really good memory otherwise ;)

Hahaha, I forgot about that neon pink packaging. I remember Toys-R-Us carried them awhile back.

Just good memory. I remember one thing, which makes me remember something related to it, which makes me remember something else.

In this case, I remember that it was before I started at CIT, which was in 2001, and that it was the same weekend as the street xmas party that year, which was the last weekend in november, then I remember that it was a saturday because I only ever got videos on saturdays when the rest of the family was out of the house all day. Remember those things, check the calender and I get the date.

I also remember how and where I got the fansubs from. :P

It was in the fall of 1995... little did I know such a group of teenaged girls would draw me into a world we call 'otaku.'

...It also serves in other entertainment purpuses.

I would say, don't forget when Sailor Moon was on the USA network for a little while. Sadly enough, the episodes were cut even more (for time? I'm not sure about content) but yes, I was a fan way back when Fox Kids aired it as a special here in the US, before it was picked up by a local TV station. Thankfully, I caught it earlier on, when Nephlite was just starting out, but the episodes only saw one full run, and the first fifteen episodes reran before it was cancelled. Then another station picked it up later on and showed it only once a week, but I think that was along with the Cartoon Network airings. They showed selections from the first 65, and CN was in S and SuperS ( ... )

Those are my favorite songs. The other ones are up there, but man.. I remember actually crying when "My Only Love" started playing >_> and I still get chills from all three of those.
I like the Power of Love as well.
Whoever did the voice season in S & Super S seriously scarred me.
The last episode or so of Super S. When Usagi/Serena is falling through the sky, her voice was good then, but that's about it.

Tracey Moore was Sailor Moon's first voice, then came in Terri Hawkes and then Linda Ballantyne.

I like all three. Many much prefer Terri as Serena's voice.

Likewise with Darien. Rino Romano was his first, then Toby Protcor, then my favourite (but Rino and Toby were good voices for Darien), Vincent Corazza. Many prefer Toby.

I don't remember it on USA, but with all the bouncing between networks and timeslots, it's hard to keep track. I used to watch it at 7am on UPN, woke up early just to watch it. And usually had to sit through the end of Bananas in Pajamas. Ooof.

Eh, I don't remember what the later VA sounded like at all. I only watched the first several SMS episodes to note the differences for a friend's site, and then I gave up after the "cousins" revelation. But yeah, back when I'd only seen the dub, I didn't have an issue with the voices and thought it was indeed expressive. I still much prefer the voice casting for the original to the dubs, but they weren't too badly voice-directed when viewed stand-alone :)

Bwahahaha. I still have a dub soundtrack somewhere, and it's VERY. PINK. XD
