Sounds like you're totally enjoying the show still :D That's awesome. A friend of mine "bing-watched" ALL over 200 episodes within not even 1 month... seriously, crazy. I could NEVER do that, but seems like SPN got better again after the mess Season 6 and 7 were :D
There are still many things to love about this show! Especially when you're too emotionally invested in the characters to stop now.
Seasons 6 and 7 did have weak overall storyarcs, although there were still things I loved about them. The Leviathans were my least favorite baddies ever. I don't know what it was about them, I just couldn't have been less interested. Still, there were great individual episodes in both seasons. :)
Yeah, I would have bought them going to Metatron if they had gone to Cain first and it didn't pan out. Or, if they were looking for Cain and had been unable to find him for months, and then Dean kills all these people and they become desperate for an answer. At this point, I want to step into the TV and smack one of them upside the head while yelling, "Hellooooo? Cain!" :D
( ... )
Exactly! They should ask Cain about the Mark. Especially since they know that Metatron can't be trusted. I know they're desperate, but Cain should've been their first option.
Maybe Cas was giving Sam a chance to open the door, cause every time he uses his powers, it weakens him.

That's a good possibility. Sam also got there first, so he had first whack at the door. :)
