Creepypasta

I'm still trying to decide what I want to submit to Creepypasta, if anything at all right now. The story I was talking about before has taken on enough life in my head that it can no longer be a short, snappy little thing like what you usually read on Creepypasta. But, when do I ever write anything short? I think it will serve me better to use it ( Read more... )

LOL I also started reading King when I was ten or eleven, but for me it was because it was convenient. Pretty much the only adult books in the house other than my mom's nursing textbooks and a few random books from the 70s were a whole bunch of Stephen King hardcovers because my parents used to buy them for each other for Christmas. Pet Sematary is the first one I really remember reading, over an Eastern break during middle school when we were visiting my aunt & uncle in the city where I now live. I had to sleep on the pull-out couch in the living room, and outside the window I could see the small patch of woods next to their house. EEEEEEEEEEEP.

Haha, was there a "pet sematary" in the woods? Wooooooooo...

What I remember most from that book was the parents dealing with the death of their child. I had never encountered such a thing in a book before and it made me really sad.

Well, personally I don't really read much and definitely not long stories ^^" I usually don't click Stories that are longer than like 5,000 words or such, because I mostly don't really have the time for those... I printed a 11,000 words story last week to take them to my plasma donation to read it there and it was such an awesome story, but when I'm at home, I usually prefer shorter stories and one-shots, but that's just me...

Well, "I don't have time to read longer stuff" is a much different reason than "long stuff is so hard to read, OMG!" :D

The only thing I refuse to read most of the time is drabbles. They're just something the writer does to show off and almost never have any real value as a story. If someone can't bother to give me more than 100 words of story and character development, I can't bother to give them a minute to read their lousy drabble.

Man, I know what you mean about the word count thing. I have an account over at Readwave, and I got 2 or 3 comments on my Lavender Town fic about it being really long. The chapter was only 4k! Readers of fanfic are used to way longer word counts - they'll read a 10k one-shot in one sitting with no problem or breeze through a 40,000+ word fic in a day if they're so inclined. But original fic readers have much, much shorter attention spans, and it's kinda sad.

I'd say, considering the reader base on Creepypasta Wiki and other sites that host Creepypasta, I'd just keep your story on AO3, where they're used to reading stories of that length because of the fanfic. I'm guessing the admin knew about the ages of the user base because he has access to the information they have to give when they sign up - such as their birthday, because of NSFW stories.

I know! I almost never get "this was too long" comments on my fanfics. Sometimes people will comment that the story was long but I kept their attention the whole time, and they liked that, but I can't ever remember someone saying my fic was "too long ( ... )

Oh, I forgot, I wanted to ask you about the Silent Hill games because you seem to have played some of them. In the movie, this siren went off every time it was about to become dark and change to the hellish environment. Does this happen in one of the games too? Which game? I'm watching Pewdiepie play Silent Hill I and the siren doesn't seem to happen in this game, and it makes me curious.

Yes, I've beaten Silent Hill 2 and 3, but I've also played Silent Hill 4: The Room, Silent Hill: Origins without beating them. I'm currently playing Silent Hill 1 on an emulator. Silent Hill is like, my life.

Anyway, the siren spans across almost every game. It's a staple of the series just like the nurses and the radio emitting static whenever an enemy is near. Silent Hill does use the siren. It actually happens at the beginning of the game, where Harry is running through the darkened alleyway and gets overwhelmed by a trio of grey children.

Silent Hill 2 features the more famous siren sound associated with the series. Here it is: siren sound. It's fucking eerie.

Also, while I'm at it, I must get you more immersed in this series. Here's Silent Hill's Scariest/Most Disturbing Moments, Part 1. It's what really pulled me in and made me want to experience these games for myself. There's a part 2 but I can't find it right this moment.

Sorry for rambling on, lol. But I can readily say I'm a walking Silent Hill Bible.
