I'm going to type up my SPN review and post it sometime soon. I've heard LJ is having issues so I want to type it in WordPad, saving as I go along, then post it all at once. That way, I won't lose anything

LOL, I have that same problem with a Yahoo Group I manage - it hasn't been active in over 5 years, but I can't remember the Yahoo username or password to go in and delete it. I'm gonna keep trying though.
There is absolutely no shame in dropping out, you know. I say that as someone whose medical problems have precluded a lot of participation in things like that this year. And you know I have this problem with deadlines...
I do find that music defines relationships and/or characters while I write. Your Sorrow for Another Coin is definitely informed by the music of Jeffrey Foucault - every single piece I write in the 'verse has a song title based on his lyrics. Every time I hear his music, flipping into Alice's voice is the easiest thing in the world. I have a specific song list for the 'verse, too, that I always listen to when I'm writing a piece in the 'verse, which includes everything Jeffrey Foucault has ever written plus some bluegrass stuff. I also snuck R.E.M., Dar Williams and Michael Penn to the list because they seem to work. Dar reminds me a lot of the wisdom that Jane would portray...
I could do this for all of my 'verses, so, in short: yes.
BTW, this seems like a cool discussion for me at getthewordsout. Just saying... ;-P
I may actually stay in one of the Big Bangs; one of the mods said she was looking forward to my story and it made me want to try harder to stay, lol. We'll see what I can do before Monday

I don't write much fanfic these days, but when I did write a bit of it, I always played music while I was writing. Not sure if I'd think of any of it as "theme songs" for particular characters. I didn't know Paul's Mom's name was Theresa, that's my full name! Hee hee.
