OMG, I'm alive!

Haha, yeah. Been a while. Not even going to try to catch up to absolutely everything that's happened since, gulp, February. So, the highlights: April - shingles. Ugh. Recovery took about 6 weeks. May - my shrink had me go off my sleep meds. >:( It sucks. I'm back to getting 4 hours of sleep a night on good nights. And it's hard getting my brain to ( Read more... )

I'm bipolar, too, so, yeah, sleep is very important. Only my doctor says the med I'm on, clonazepam, causes long term memory loss and dementia. This is presumably something that's come out in the medical literature recently, because she didn't say anything about the last time we met in January. I asked her if there was anything else I could take and she said, no, they all had the same problem. Some of it may be due to my age, though; something about the problems being in "older" adults. I'm only 55! I don't feel like an "older" adult, yet. :(

Thanks for the cheerleading! I'm doing my best to get back into my groove. :D

That's what I never figured out with the shingles; I couldn't figure out what was my supposed stressor. Yeah, we had a big scholarship/awards reception coming up, which some people might consider stressful, but my part in it was more peripheral; much of the work was done months, if not weeks in advance and I'm very good at delegating stuff to my student hourly. :D It was about the most low stress event I've been involved in and nothing I would have considered stressful. I dunno, a depressed immune system can do it, too. I had the flue a couple months before and I don't think my body had really bounced back from that.

Oh, I can play around with graphics a little bit. I've been a tech writer in the past and learned a little Photoshop for the job. I've picked up a few tips here and there, so I consider myself a decent faker of the folks with real mastery. It's all in knowing how to make the most of layers; there's still tons for me to learn. I learned a lot playing around during the first Ship Wars, too. :D
