The whole need a Master's to get a job thing is why I'm getting my Doctorate or Juris Doctor. I'm tired of this bullshit where a piece of a paper is what decides if you get hired or not. My skill set is insanely broad for a 32 year old, and no one here cares because I don't have a degree. I'm done with it.

I don't really have anything to add other than solidarity, but I really do hope things will get better for you soon. I know how frustrating it is to have to live penny to penny.

That sucks, sail! I wish I had more than words of sympathy. My workplace is nuts about degrees too. Gotta have a Bachelor's just to walk in the door.

Yeah, and I have my bachelor's. But when they say that's what's required and only interview folks with master's, well. Fuck them. The next technical writing contract that comes along, I'm going to interview for it. I've been called at least five times this past summer and just ignored them because they're all short term. But you know what? If I can make twice what I'm making now, fuck having to scramble for another gig every time. It would still be worth it. We'll see if I put my money where my mouth is though. Job security is a big deal these days.

I am so looking forward to being there. I'm still running numbers in my head, but I've got my plane ticket and my prom outfit, so it's all just damage control at this point. :p
