There were many chimneystacks in the nexus, billowing black, sooty smoke, and here and there, one might be hearing the scrambling of shoes against tiled roofs, or scraping inside inside the stacks

"Well - I was cleanin' up the smokestacks when this wind blew right 'ere in this place, so I guess ye coul' say I be larkin' right now."
