Aragorn felt like a living dead. The day had been one of the worse he had lived through in several years. He had been woken up early by his chief guard as there had been some riot in the lowest level of the city. It had taken up to half the day to get it solved.
Back to the palace, he had to sit down and listen and judge to the monthly court of those that had been caught to cross the rules he had set for the city to live after. Some of the things was so not necessary and he wished that people could have stayed away to make the bad judgments. It had been especially one that had agitated him most. Tired of being the fair King and give the recidivist another chance he had lost his own judgement and throw his knife in the troublemaker's chest, which of course had made the court to seem to fall in to fights. Afraid of his own action he first had sank down and tried to not be there, but as the fights didn't seem to die out he had let everyone know that he was the King and had the right to give his final word without getting questioned.
Aragorn had soon after that disappeared into his study to hopefully get some peace though that had been too much to think of. There he had piles of correspondence to take care of and everyone seemed to have searched for his opinion. To handle a Kingdom, Aragorn hadn't thought to be this hard. Just this day he wished for be back in a battlefield as there he would know that his action was to kill or be killed.
It could have been enough… though he got disturbed by one of the healing apprentice that came to tell him that Eldarion was taken to the House of Healings. Hurry there he learned that his second son had been little to careless during a sword lesson. It was some agony time before the Master could insure that the wound would be healed and was not in a long way life treating. When it was his children his heart always went up to his mouth.
Next thing he seemed to have to worry about was Tithdareon. This in a way more to the likes of who Tithdareon had a relationship with, he was not sure if it was the best one. On the way back from The House of Healing he had accidentally come up on them, heard the laugh and familiar endearment there was between two lovers.
To have to need to worry about many outside his family and his consort was more than he know he needed right now. He knew that he would need to be strong and rested for what Legolas and he was to be confronted with.
Aragorn fell down in their bed. To get some comfort he tried to lie as close he could to Legolas, but the really close and good embrace were some time ago they could been able have. He gave his lover a kiss and put a hand on the belly that kept them apart.
"How are you holding up?"
"Good, probably a lot better than you. You look terrible." Legolas replied.
A faint smile crossed Aragorn's face. "I feel much worse than when I arrived at Edoras after falling off the cliff. To be the King is so many times harder than be in a battle. Ad to the worry you constantly have for the family… makes it even harder. Lucky it was not worse with Eldarion."
"What would we expect… Like father, like son." Legolas tried to change his position, but being in eight month, carrying twins made it difficult.
"Are you sure you feel well? No feelings of an early birth?"
"Sure I am huge and would wish it over, but I think they still feel safest inside me. There are no more contractions than I have been feeling the last two months. It is just to hard to lay in the same position for to long and right now they are awake." Legolas replied, when he finally had turned to his back, half sitting up and get some pillows behind him for supporting him.
Aragorn took his hand to stroke over the belly to feel the movements and hopefully help to calm them down.
