Author's Notes: This is an Au to the Au series with Legolas ‘ Missne’ Greenleaf, as it wont follow the main story, but I like the thought of what William became in At World’s End. There can be some spoilers of stories that are in my planning of the series, which would explain one or another thing here.
I also took some liberty to change some of how the legend of the Captain of the Flying Dutchman is told in the Disney films.

Previous chapter: Chapter 1

Chapter 2
All he could see was water and sky, both going into each other. He kept his eyes steady on the horizon. It would only be minutes until midday. Legolas had felt his restlessness had slowly changed to anticipation as he had been standing there. For every ticking minute the anticipation had became stronger and stronger. He felt surer that it was the right place, and he would learn what was drawing him there.

If there had been a church or any bell close Legolas would have heard as it started to announce it was twelve when the first visible mast of a ship rose from under the surface, far out in the ocean. Legolas blinked, pushed the strands of hair away to be sure of what he was seeing. Rising from the sea was a ship he had hoped he would never see again, the cursed Flying Dutchman, with its evil captain Davy Jones.

Anger rose in Legolas' chest. Had not Will, Jack and he stopped that ships ravaging on the seven seas so many years ago? Why would he be drawn to it? How come it still lived? If Legolas had been a mighty wizard he would surely have vanquished it in an instant. Though luck was he couldn’t…

Even if he wanted to turn around and leave the place he couldn’t. He stared at the ship, seeing how it slowly got closer to the shore, and he could make out the details and crew. He saw that something was very different about it. The Dutchman had to get even closer for him to see what was changed. The foul creatures that had been Davy Jones’ crew weren’t there. There were ordinary looking men ordinary though with ragged clothes. At the helm stood what looked to be William’s father.

A new fear rose in Legolas. What had caught Bill Turner to be one of the crew at the Dutchman again? Why had it sailed to this very point where he had been drawn? He didn’t like it at all since it was so obvious this had to be it. What had happened to make it this way?

The ship dropped its anchor, and stopped where it was safe from any rocks or running aground. The crew seemed to know what to do. Legolas tried to guess which one of the men was Davy Jones, since he only knew him with his octopus head. He also wonder what would be asked of him, what the reason could be. He didn’t move from his place up on the cape. He would not let them get him easy way.

Legolas continue to watch, seeing how a boat was lowered down to the sea, how Bill Turner climbed down, and started to row to the small beach that was to the left of the cliff he was standing on. The questions swirled around in his head.

After a good twenty minutes, Bill was walking towards him, breathing hard after the heavy climb.

“What a relief to see you here, Missne. We were so worried that we would have missed you.” Bill said as soon he had caught his breath and reached where Legolas was standing.

It was quite some time since anyone had called him Missne. William probably hadn’t told the truth about him to his father, so he saw him as the woman he appeared as in front of men.

“Good day, Bill. What is the matter? Did it happen anything to Will when he came back?” Legolas waited. The thought that William hadn’t had a good end of his life made his heart beat harder. “Please let me know what has made me feel drawn to this spot. Why did you think you would have missed me? Why are you still on the Flying Dutchman? Did Davy Jones change his mind?”

“Calm down, little friend. Your questions will be answered soon enough.” Bill embraced Legolas, and when he let go started to answer Legolas questions. “You did a great job to release Jack from the beast and to weaken Davy Jones. Though during the time William was away from here, Davy broke his promise like the lying prick he was. So to anger William, he captured me, saying that I couldn’t be released from the depth I was in. You know Will, he never gives up if he has make a promise… he came after us.”

“Please do not say anymore… Oh Valar…” Legolas couldn’t say or bring himself to think much longer. He sank down to his knees.

Bill put a hand on his shoulder, “You need to hear the story to the end, girl. What the legend has to tell you.”

“But, but I can not think of any other end than he must have failed… when you are here, still on that awful ship.” Tears were running, wetting his cheeks.

“It took some time before he got to us, but with help by Jack and Elizabeth, he found us. Fighting for me with Davy Jones… and yes the worse that could happen happened... Davy wounded Will so badly that the only way to save him was to stab the heart and replace it to have a captain on the ship.”

Legolas made up a scream that would have made anyone in miles to die of fear. Bill started to shake him to make him stop.

“I’m not finished… The legend says that if the true love of the captain were waiting for him after the first ten years of his duty, he would be able to be released if he can find anyone that is willing to take his place.”

“Then he has been cursed to always be the captain.” whispered Legolas.

“Yes, it’s true in one way, though he told me that he held a hope to feel when and if you ever would arrive here again. If anything would make the worlds cross…” Bill drew his eyebrows together like he didn’t understand the meaning and believed his son. “Last year he thought he felt something… at one point it was very close, but before he was able to find you, you must have left.”

Something slowly rose in Legolas. If he had been told right and put things together William must have sailed the seas for near 200 years. The curse made him… immortal. He could be able to meet his love.

“Is he waiting for me? Why did he not come up here?” he asked the older man.

“If not the true love is waiting he - the captain, could only sat foot on land one day every ten year. It is still a few years before he can do so. He sent me to bring you to him and tell the story, since you know me and would be… worried, feeling the link and easily believe the truth.”

“What are we waiting for? Please let him not wait any longer.” Legolas said, and before Bill could react he saw the elf dive into the sea.
