You know when you're on the bus, and you have a window seat, and there's someone sitting next to you on the aisle seat? And your stop is next, so you say, very politely, "Excuse me, could you let me out, please?" And then instead of standing up to let you out, the person just swivels their legs into the aisle and expects you to slide past? Is that ( Read more... )

It is seriously so annoying. Today the woman was simply too fat for me to get over so she huffed and puffed at how inconsiderete I was for not living further out.

I know, rite! How dare you get on the bus before her and take a window seat instead of doing that other really rude thing of sitting in the aisle with an empty window seat and not moving over, and then not warning her when she sat down that you might have to get off before her and therefore she might have to move her butt, in an unexpected and unprecedented event in the entire history of buses?!

Yup that it is one of my bugbears too. I said once to a person who did that to me - "Well I'm no nymph and you aren't either so could you stand up so I can get out."

Oooh! Did the person do it? Or did they just give you that uncomprehending stare that is so popularly used by many?

LMAO thanks for the (unnecessary) reminder. However, I'm pretty sure it is impossible to get drunk on butterscotch schnapps. I'm having, like, two drinks at a time. And am still not touching wine. So don't worry, no terrible hangovers are in my future at this stage. :D

Oh my goodness yes that is one of the many stupid things that daft people do on buses! Its also very interesting when people ignore the empty seats and sit right next to you.

It can be terribly unpleasant at times to use public transport here in little old ChCh. I can't even imagine what it would be like in Sydney.

I guess it's not too bad most of the time! Aside from the drunks and druggies. I don't get buses too often because I walk to uni and the bus stops near me are on weird routes. Trains usually have less assholery, although loud music and kids/teens are pretty common.
