YOU GUYS.

So, I KNOW that Stage Beauty has some INCREDIBLE flaws. We watched the first half hour in my Shakespeare in Performance class today as an intro to Restoration Shakespeare, and I learned about even more historical innacuracies that are in the film than I was previously aware of ( Read more... )

I entertainingly showed Stage Beauty to a class of year 12s who were studying Restoration Comedy (well, it sort of linked, and i love the boys in skirts too, and it was a much easier movie to show them the overblown acting style than showing them The Libertine), the entertaining part for me was showing the gay sex scene in Bible Belt Australia, and watching half my classes heads implode :D

Luckily no one's parents complained, but i think by then the kiddies were used to my rants of "believe what you want, but this is a public and therefore secular high school and anti gay shit is NOT allowed in my classroom!!!"
