So my sister and brother-in-law, their kids, and my mom have been planning a beach vacation for the better part of a year now. The schedule was to leave today, go to Hershey Park, and then drive on down to their rented house for the rest of the week

If they haven't evacuated the Outer Banks yet, I'd be surprised. They were evacuating Williamsburg, VA and have declared a state of emergency in most shore towns/islands at least all up the coast in New Jersey. I'd advise them to sit tight in Hershey PA until Irene has done her worst.

We're not even driving south to Baltimore on Saturday even though we were planning to start for home by 4 pm under normal conditions. It's supposed to pour and pour and pour, and the winds are going to pick up as the day progresses and Irene hits in full force.
