I know how you feel about viewings... I can't stand them. After being forced to go through it with my grandfather, I held my ground and refused to go into the room for my grandmother. So, now I remember her as she was in life, as I never saw her in death, and for that I am happy. I will never willingly attend another viewing.
I'm so sorry about your friend. It's so sad when a young person so full of life passes away. A friend of mine died in a car accident a few years ago, and he'll pop into my head at the oddest times, like during a meeting at work about a project that we both worked on, or when I stumble across field notes or well logs in his handwriting. Sometimes I just can't believe that he's gone, still, after all this time.
