well, we knew it was risk, and we gambled and lost. We are now without a car until we get money to have it fixed. Sadly, that will be out tax refund (and probably more, as it's both ball joints, bearings and a broken spring). We go get our taxes done tomorrow, and if we are fortunate, I will have all the paperwork altogether and not have to go ( Read more... )

really surprised your mom hasn't applied for VA benefits, and that should help. Did Lee get the boxes?

Yes! They came in while I was away (isn't that how it always works?) and I only just got around to opening them this weekend! Wow! What did you do- wipe out the inventory of Golden Crocus? :D Thank you! I didn't have any of the bowls. I have a small list of bits that need to be replaced, but never got around to it- I have 2 broken salt shakers. Both the paper shakers are intact. Weird? eh? And I can't remember which of the serving bowls is cracked. Will have to actually pull out the china and look at it.

Thank you! I am still looking for your teapot. Haven't found anything like it yet. Lots and lots and lots of milk glass all over the place, though. I bought a couple pieces that I liked, but the rest was... meh.

No milk glass for me. I am still looking for my teapot. They come up occasionally. It's a zen thing. I cleaned out an ebay seller. =)

I wast sure what u were missing. But regardless, you have replacement parts now, if nothing else.

I can now go give the seller a nice report.

I even reused all the bubble wrap and one of the boxes! I bought a set of dinnerware from the consignment shop that fit my grandmother's set (that is now Donna's) and rewrapped it all with the bubble wrap and put it in a plastic storage bin. The odd box went to Donna with a bunch of baby clothes for impending granddaughter. :)

Gimme specs on your search for glassware and I will keep an eye out this summer when all the antique shops/rummage sales start up. I find the greatest stuff and never buy it because I don't collect it.

What format do you need the books in? I read in mobi, epub, lit and pdf, and usually can convert to one of those four without problems. I may have a ton I can send to you for your mom already preformatted depending on the genre... *i only keep a select few authors now once I've read the book*

Another options is to look on ebay for a car. My brother just bought one in an auction for $200 and it only needed minor repairs before it was road worthy (of course we had to drive down to Detroit to get it, but it might be an option). Or craig's list. Got my hot water heater up in Traverse City for $50 bucks and the price of gas.

Well, we have a Nook, and I accidently bought the ebooks for kindle, which works fine in my computer, but not for transferring to the Nook. :P I don't remember what the extension was, but it doesn't play nice with others, and the books are all DRM locked. :(

have thought about buying a different car, but that would mean coming up with money we don't have and won't be getting. Taxes didn't go so well this year. :(

It's just a regular nook right? Per Google it should read epub, which just happens to be my preferred format. What sort of books are you wanting for your ma? Give me an email... this celisnebula at gmail,.com

Yeah I know the feeling. We're skirting by with bagged beans and roman noodles this week and next until I get paid and then *knock on wood* I should have about 100 to spend on groceries for this month. The kidlet is actually looking for a job to help with the bills, but he doesn't drive so I don't know how successful he'll be (though there's a ton of stories just around the corner from us, but none seem to be hiring).

Mom reads a LOT of books and different varieties of things, too. I am so glad I got her out of her Romance novel corner. :)

She has on her bookshelves Kathy Reichs ("Bones"), Jim Butcher ("Dresden Files"), Laurel K. Hamilton ("Anita Blake"), Patricia Briggs ("Moon Called" etc.), Sherrilyn Kenyon (in fact, "Dark Bites" is on her Nook list!), Georgette Heyer (Toll Gate, and April Lady, both on her Nook List), Zane Grey, "The Cat Who..." mysteries, Christopher Fowler (Invisible Code, on the Nook list), Lynn Kurland (The Traveller, on the Nook list), Catherine Mann (Grayson's Surrender, on the Nook list), Ruth Rendell (No Man's Nightengale, on the Nook List), Blaize Clement (Cat Sitters Cradle, on the Nook list).

What books do you need? If I have them (since you already paid for them of course *wink*) I can email them to you. What format do you need?

I bought them in Kindle format, but need them in whatever it is that Nook takes. I'll get the list when I go downstairs.
