well, we knew it was risk, and we gambled and lost. We are now without a car until we get money to have it fixed. Sadly, that will be out tax refund (and probably more, as it's both ball joints, bearings and a broken spring). We go get our taxes done tomorrow, and if we are fortunate, I will have all the paperwork altogether and not have to go back and forth with whatever I forgot. Taxis, while cheap up here, do suck down money faster than my jeep goes through gas. May have to sell it off in the spring for scrap. :(

And I will definitely have to put in a Leave of Absence from now until whenever my mother is well enough to be on her own. Sometime late April or May-ish, we're thinking. :P

Lee wasn't able to get the DAV transport to the VA for his appointment in Iron Mountain tomorrow, so he will have to reschedule that. Must remind him to call and reschedule, or he will just forget. And then he will have to call the DAV for a ride (again).

Got first round of paperwork to the hospital (applying for financial aid with $3k worth of bills they want payment in full for two months ago) in the mail yesterday. Have to apply for Michigan Medicaid now. Can't do it online, there seems to be a glitch in the system that crashes the application about 4 or 5 pages in. Have tried 4 times now. Have printed the paperwork off and will mail it in. Need to call the hospital and let them know that it will, again, take time. At least I will have it done (on my end) by the end of the week.

Made beef and barley soup for Lee's lunches. It made 8 batches, 2 of which he's already eaten. He says it's tasty. Yay!

Gave up on trying to unlock the ebooks I bought for my mother, will just go ahead and buy them from B&N and load them up from there. The process to unlock them involve downloading 3 more programs, unzipping them all, installing them on my laptop and then getting them to all link up with Calibre. I lost 2 days of my life trying to do it. Am not geared for software, it seams. I will uninstall all that crap and just repurchase the books. I know we're hard up for funds right now (and will be for several months), but sometimes, it's just easier that way. :P

Lee is making a mess in the kitchen, with the annual Fireball Chili. Sadly, we have no way of getting it down to the frat house tomorrow night. :P Still, it's something for him to do and for me to clean up.

Mom is still doing well. She has a dentist appointment this Friday to make certain she doesn't have any infections or cavities. Cavities will have to be filled before her operation. She has a ultrasound of her aorta on Monday. So far, everything is a go. I need to have her get in touch with Michigan DHS and apply for dental coverage if she can get it. That might help out in costs. Ditto with the VA. Mom is a Vietnam vet, but has never applied for VA assistance before. Have to remind her to call the number I fished up for her and to fill out AND send in said paperwork. Again, it's always the money that stops her from looking after herself. At her age, and with her service to this country, you'd think she'd be able to get help once in a while. :P
