So, dear flist, how does one start an online petition and bring it to the attention of the powers that be to NOT cast an actor in a role
( Read more... )
The thoughts of seeing Pattison cast for Finnick makes me want to puke, and I'm being nice. >.<
I admit that I don't really have someone in mind for the role, maybe because I don't *care* that much (I really like the character, but for me he is secondary) but there are limits to how "open minded" I can be. NO PATTISON for me, kay, thanks.
Actually, the book doesn't say Finnick is black. It says he has tan skin, bronze hair, and green eyes. (You have NO IDEA how many times I've read Catching Fire in writing my monster.) I'll give you racially ambiguous, but neither definitively black or white. ;) And that's part of why Jesse Williams is on my list of actors who I wouldn't mind seeing in the role (not to mention the fact that he's as beautiful a man as Armie and Garrett.)
Its kind of revolting all the racist crap that comes out about these characters. Like people reacting to Rue being black saying they no longer cared about her...or that "tan skin" just means white people who have been out in the sun a long time. Its frightening to see how big of a deal race still is.
Yes, this. That stuff about Rue just made me sick and Amandla Stenberg handled it so gracefully. ♥
I thought of the letter option, but if this is just a fan with a blog claiming Lionsgate wants Pattinson, then I DO NOT want to put the idea in their heads. :P

I'd say it's not a huge threat, but enough of one that it's making me feel jittery. :P

Anyway, the only thing I could suggest would be a polite letter sent to the produers/director of the film.

Please tell me he's not cast yet, and they are still looking.
