Metal, heavy and solid, crashed to the concrete floor, the noise seeming louder in the near pitch darkness than it would have in the light of day. It was closely followed by the almost delicate sound of shattered glass, although there wasn’t much left of that to break.

Derek whirled, saw a brief glint of reflected light. He sidestepped the pipe rolling toward him and aimed his gun toward the darker shadow amongst lesser shadows, shouting in frustration, “Dammit, Allison. That’s the fourth time today. You have got to do better than that or you’ll be snapped up by metal.”

Oh, awesome stuff with great foreshadowing of Allison's fate combined with a wonderfully dark evocation of the future that Skynet brings.

The ejection ‘chute was snatched up by the wind and dragged Kara across the rugged landscape. She scrabbled for purchase, anything she could grab onto to slow or, better yet, stop the frantic motion, but there was nothing. Nothing, that is, until the frakking rock came out of nowhere and stopped her in her tracks.

She cried out in pain as her kneecap shattered, her own scream deafening within her helmet. The wind ripped the parachute away; Kara was lucky the only thing damaged badly was her knee. And it wasn’t even the first time for that.

Some time later, she opened her eyes on the orange-yellow sky and realized that she must have blacked out from the pain. Rising up on her elbows, she looked down at her knee, half expecting her flight suit to be in shreds, but the fabric wasn’t even torn. Gritting her teeth, she wiggled her toes, relieved that she was able to do that one little thing. Maybe if she got off this godsforsaken rock, she wouldn’t lose her leg.

She heard them - oh, God, how could she not? - felt it in her soul as Karl thrust into Boomer, and she could do, say nothing. Inside, Sharon screamed and railed at him, “No! God, no, Karl! She isn’t me!”

The reality was that they were trapped, she and Karl. Trapped by her sister’s hatred and lust for revenge, by her husband’s inability to tell one Eight from another.

Sharon slid into darkness as first Karl and then Boomer cried out their release, her last conscious thought filled with desperate pain.

How can I so much as look at him again?

OMG!!! That is so ... I mean I know I just watched it the other day but ...

Okay I'm at a loss for words. That was so well put and exactly what I imagine she was thinking. I suspect that last line is going to come out in the future ... which will make me sad. While I love exploring the Kara/Lee relationship, I've always really admired the Helo/Sharon one. Despite all that tries to keep them apart, they've always managed to stay together and stay strong. You're right - RDM really deserves some serious pain (like having his fingernails pulled off one by one?) for splitting them apart like this.
