I've been a more-or-less active member of The Planet forums for nearing 4 years. And then THIS comes down the line.

Yeah, I think a lot of the fic over there will go completely poof, since the authors are no longer around. :( I'm gonna try to copy what I can and save it, but who knows what I'll get and what I'll miss. :/

That was the first thing I thought about after Aftermath. Sophie put TONS of work in on APTCH, and I know she has an art thread, too, with even more stuff than what she did for APTCH.

I'm thinking we can coordinate with Christy to find stuff to save, since she's the fic mod. Bryan also pointed out a Firefox extension (screen grab) that will save an entire page as an image file, so there's that. You can't really save the text separately with that, but at least we wouldn't lose comments and whatnot.

I'm gonna head over there soonish and see what's shaking out this morning.

And gods, I still feel like I've been run over. Ugh. :(

That's awful. I was out of HP fandom for a while, and when I returned, a lot of my favourite fics had gone poof, so definitely feeling you on that one.

Would it be possible for you to make a list of authors whose fic are up? That way people could pitch in and save different works, and a lot more could be saved in a short time.

There's an 'author library' up over there, but it's not complete. We'll have to go through and do a complete inventory. :/ Got several ideas in the works for saving all that content, so we'll just have to see how everything shakes out.

Gods, I thought *I* had a lot of links that would break, but that's just... gods, the humanity! Hopefully, a lot of those have alternate homes on FF.net or LJ or The Big Apricot. I think Shado is gonna be pushing to get people to move stuff over there if possible, so that's something.
