Chapter 2: Beginning of a new life

Aiba remained standing in the middle of the mess what the gangster-looking guy left behind and tried to force his mind to work and find out what should he do now. But since it didn’t work he thought that would be the better if he finds Ohno and tells it to him. So he changed into the clothes what were left there to him and hurried down to the café.
“Ohno-san!” he whispered to the man when he spotted him behind the counter preparing two cups of coffee.
“Nii-san…” the older man corrected him without looking up from his work.
“Eh?” Aiba asked back confused.
“Nii-san. Call me that. Didn’t I tell you yesterday that you’ll be my little brother? Therefore, call me nii-san… By the way, good morning!” Ohno said looking up finally and smiled at Aiba. “You slept well?”
“Oh… good morning… nii-san…” Aiba added with a faint blush on his face.
“Oh, you’re so cute!” Ohno cued grinning at the younger boy.
“Ano, Ohno-san!” one of the customers called him.
“A minute!... Masaki-chan, could you please take this to them, please?” Ohno asked the boy giving him the tray with the two cups and pointed at the table next to the window.
“Ah… hai…” he nodded a bit surprised though Ohno was already at the customer’s table who called him.
Aiba carefully took the tray and went to the said table with it.
“Here’s your coffee…” he said putting the cups in front of the couple smiling.
He was happy he managed to do it without spilling out the dark liquid. Then he quickly fled back to the counter when he remembered why he wanted to come here and talk with Ohno in the first place. But before Ohno would’ve finished his chat with the customer, the kitchen’s door burst opened and Nino stomped out wit ha bento box in his hand and looked around frenetically as if he was looking for someone.
“Satoshi! Where’s Sho?” he asked his boyfriend.
“Sho?” Ohno looked at him surprised. “He left already. He was here only for five minutes or less…”
“Oh, great! He left here his lunch again…” Nino groaned and took off his apron. “I take it to him; look out for everything till I’m back…” he said then left the café…
Soon after Nino left Ohno returned to the counter too where Aiba was still waiting for him.
“Ano… Oh…nii-san… there was someone up there earlier this morning…” Aiba said unsure pointing toward the door which hid the stairs up to the apartment. Ohno raised an eyebrow confused. “He seemed to… looking for something…” the younger boy offered as an explanation though he didn’t know anything else.
“Oh! That must be just Sho-kun…” he waved toward the door to signal it’s the same person whom Nino was looking for earlier.
“He was… kind of scary…” Aiba whispered to himself blushing yet felt as his heart beating a bit faster remembering the man from the morning…

“Aniki!”
Nino walked into the assembly shop calling for Sho.
“Aniki!” Nino repeated.
“I’m here; don’t need to shout like that… I’m not deaf… yet…” Sho said climbing out one of the ships what were waiting there to be repaired.
“Ah, there you are!” Nino walked there and held up the nicely wrapped bento box. “Your lunch… You left it again…” he said offended.
“Ah, gomen, gomen, Kazu-chan!” he grinned down at him apologetically.
Sho jumped down to the floor and wiped his hands in a piece of cloth before took the bento box from Nino. “Arigatou!”
Nino shook his head.
“You would’ve died by starving already if I wouldn’t be here to look after you…” he grumbled good-heartedly.
“Oi! I thought you like taking care of me!” Sho laughed and hugged Nino’s shoulder. “And you know I’m grateful for this…” he added. “What did you make me today?”
“You’ll know when you eat it” Nino replied grinning. “Anyway, I better go now. If I leave them alone too long, Satoshi might burn down the café with this new stray pet-boy of his…”
“Hey, this new… stray pet-boy of Ohno’s… it’s the kid whom I saw at your place this morning?” Sho asked frowning.
“Huh? Oh, I guess so… If he’s tall, had a baby-face and hardly speaks then it might be him… Oh-chan wanted to keep him so he’ll live with us now…” Nino shrugged as it would be normal to him to take in complete strangers into his home. “His name’s Masaki, by the way… Oh, and aniki… Please don’t be too rough with him… He’s that shy, innocent type…” Nino grinned then waving to Sho left the shop.
“Didn’t plan interacting with him at all, duh…” Sho muttered then put the bento on the table and returned to his work…

“Hey, Ohno-kun! Who’s this cute boy?” asked the last customer who was just about to leave too.
“He’s my little brother!” Ohno answered happily hugging the said boy to his side. “He’s new here, came just yesterday but stays with me for a while. Be nice to him, nee?” he asked grinning.
“Okay! Bye-bye!” the middle-aged woman laughed then paid and left the café.
“Why did you say that to her?” Aiba asked whispered though there wasn’t anyone there beside them and looked at the older man with wide eyes.
“I did what?” Ohno asked back with a blank face.
“You said that lady that I’m your brother but I don’t… It’s no good to lie... so why?”
Aiba asked again.
Ohno looked at him with a serious face, studying the younger man’s innocent, wide-eyed features. He saw the somehow scared glints in his brown eyes, though wasn’t sure the reason behind them.
“Look, Masaki-chan! I’m not that smart to know where you did come ore how exactly you end up here with only a mobile and a bunch of school notes with you, wearing a suit… And it’s okay if you don’t want to tell it to me and Kazu but trust us with this: we just want to help you. Yet it’s a small town, everyone knows the other so a new face can’t be hide for too long. And if they get to know about your mysterious appearance they’ll start to talk about you…” the older man said seriously. “So it’s just better if we tell them that you’re my little brother so they won’t ask unnecessary questions” he added smiling. “And actually I always wanted a little brother…”
Aiba’s eyes filled with tears at this. So far none was this kind to him in his entire life and he didn’t dare to hope that Ohno (and Nino) would be this nice to him.
“Nii-san… how should I thank you this?” Aiba sniffed trying to hold back his tears.
Ohno chuckled and pulled the boy into his embrace.
“Baka! You don’t need to thank me this…” he said softly.
“But still… arigatou… nii-san…” Aiba whispered clinging onto Ohno crying.
“Oi! You, let go of my Oh-chan!” Nino ordered him as he returned to the café and spotted the couple.
Aiba immediately jumped back and looked at the other boy guilty.
“Gomen, I didn’t mean…” he stuttered blushing but Nino just laughed at him.
“I know that but why are you crying? Did someone die?” he asked raising an eyebrow.
“Don’t be mean to him, Kazu…” Ohno said scolding his boyfriend gently. “And none died. I just told him what we agreed on last night” he explained.
“Oh and what’s there to cry about that? You’re such a crybaby…” Nino teased Aiba who tried to wipe off the remaining tears from his face.
“Am not!” Aiba protested at this and glared at Nino - though it wasn’t even near as scary as Aiba wished it…
“Yes, you are and you better don’t start a fight over it or you can sleep on the streets tonight!” Nino warned him.
Aiba pouted and kept glaring at Nino but said nothing after all.
“Good. Now let’s clean up this place before anyone comes… And I’m sure aniki made a mess upstairs too…” Nino sighed. “Okay, you, crybaby, wipe the tables then do the dishes in the kitchen! Satoshi, you do the rest here! I go and clean up the apartment…”
“Hai!” Ohno and Aiba said in union.
After all, they had to do what Nino told them if they wanted to be fed today too…
