I like being able to see userinfo icons, userpics, and mood icons, but I do not want to see any larger images in entries. I am aware of LiveJournal's image placeholders (I see http://stat.livejournal.com/img/imageplaceholder2.png), but since most people don't ( Read more... )

Very nicely done, that's exactly how you would do it, except for one small thing: You have a typo in the second specifier, where it should say ljimgplaceholder instead of ljimjplaceholder.

Also, the placeholders aren't shown when viewing someone else's friends page; i.e. the setting doesn't carry over. But, it worked fine on my own friends page.

Finally, it's also worth pointing out that anyone should be able to apply this setting to any layout, not just Expressive.

Oh, thanks for pointing out that typo. I'll get that fixed in my own journal right away (and edit this post as well.)
The placeholders don't seem to work on my own journal, either; I make a few posts with images in them from time to time and I still see my own. But it's now so much less cluttered looking on my friends page!

I can't tell you how pleased I am with myself for figuring this out. I really think it's helpful. :}
Thanks for the comment!
