Okay, so I have a question for you all! I've been wondering this for a while, and if we had an OOC post about it I have completely forgotten!

What does your character sound like when they talk?To explain: Most characters who go through the gate, no matter what language they speak, all end up speaking a universal language that everyone can ( Read more... )

Laharl does NOT sound like his English dub arg. Considering he's older than the modern English language, I kind of assume he's a polyglot. His accent is mostly American, but there's probably something hard to place about it, and the same probably goes for most anything he speaks since his first language would have been something like King-Arthur-era British and I doubt anyone here knows that. His voice also has a definite growl to it.

Miyu is Japanese, but Larva is British (or at least, he's "European" and one of his former colleagues who shows up speaks to him in English). And since Miyu would have learned English through her blood bond with him, she gets his accent. She speaks like some sort of British aristocrat. When she speaks in Japanese, she doesn't always speak it modernly; she doesn't use much gairaigo and other characters remark that she sometimes sounds like their grandmother.

Zack is just generic American to me, and Roxas gets a voice actor so we all know how he sounds. =x

...I don't remember [or haven't heard] the voices of any of your characters, Japanese or English dub >_>;;

So Laharl talks with an undercurrent of a growl? Why does that make him cuter to me? Makes it easier to discern he might not be human.... aside from the ears... and eyes...

Time for Youtube!

Laharl - ...okay, he doesn't come in until like halfway through but it's just so funny. Flonne blows her nose in his scarf. Ah, and the growling is more pronounced in the second part.

Roxas in English and Japanese.

Zack - At around 5:15. This scene is the epitome of Zack for me, they pulled it from the original game. And I've never heard his English voice and kind of don't want to.

Miyu - From around 3:00.

Ohohoho oh God. Flonne's so cute.. 'Eh... no one.... came? *cries*' Laharl's voice sounds familiar though....

Roxas' English voice scares me. Japanese only please.

Jack's is mostly British with a drunken slur along side ataxic movements that depict a man that's either been out to sea too long or he's been drunk all the time. What isn't known is that he supposedly suffered heat stroke and has some brain damage from it that's the root cause of his ataxia. Still, he's able to move fairly well.

Sheldon's tone is very smooth, even and hardly raises. He speaks softly and never yells. His accent is a very subtly Southwestern accent that depicts that he's either from Arizona originally or a bit more Southern. He does speak slowly and clearly which often lends to his arrogance at times.

Trance, due to English being one of the most common spoken languages, along with Common, has a rather flat accent. Though it'd adopt mostly American (maybe some Canadian due to the actors?) slang. I'd mostly chalk it up to her having been around the universes enough to have evened out most accents.

Lily, a native English speaker, has the London accent that she grew up with. Simple as that. Though Sean's been heard making fun of it back in their canon, due to the slang she uses.

Chii has the accent and sound of adorable. :3 Really, she probably goes about mimicking accents by the first person she heard each word from, just with her pitch.

For those of you that haven't heard Duo's dub voice.... well he sounds like his dub. Which is damned hard to find on Youtube now for some fucking reason. *shakes fist at*

He's American, or he's from a mostly American colony. He doesn't have a very distinct accent, but he tends to use a lot of Americanisms and colloquialisms in his speech.

Jason's voice is pitched slightly higher than his height might suggest (most tall guys have deeper voices) but I've always thought of his voice as rather soft. He doesn't raise it much on purpose, and he has a very slight New England accent, but it's not very discernible unless you know to listen for it.

Andrew: He has a very deep and commanding voice, and it has a very slight accent that it's hard to pick up on. People might incorrectly assume there's a British influence, but it's actually the result of having spoken Russian for the first 25 years of his life. His voice can often get loud and harsh ( ... )
