Becca in VA has made a firespinning video of my friend Kevin West and others spinning poi, set to 'Firebird's Child'. She had my permission, and she credited me all over the place. :D

Want to spin the fire staff now. I used to do flag corp in high school doesn't seem much different than that. *sighs* too long ago

Hi. I was a flag corp geek (*grin*) in high school, and picked up the fire staff three summers ago at a festival. Watching staff spinners, it seems that former corp members have a different 'understanding' of the staff than those who start with a short, light staff. I have to tell you that I LOVE my fire staff! I spin poi, too, but there's nothing like staff for me. I have a 5 1/2 foot maple staff that I spin. MUCH heavier than your average staff. I love its momentum.

And I'd be willing to bet that if you picked it up, everything would come back to you! That muscle memory never forgets!

I agree.
I was a trumpet player, so I missed out on flagline. Very sad about that now, but it's been fun learning staff from the bottom up. My shoulders will attest.

Hey! I played trumpet, too. 6 years on trumpet and then my director switched me to French horn for my junior and senior year. They always need horns, ya know. I marched flagline during football season, and then played trumpet/horn during concert season.

This old band geek still has her old practice flag in the corner of her room... *snort*!!
