Irrefutable Proof That I Have WAY Too Much Time On My Hands

Regarding the Split Timeline Theory (which Twilight Princess makes very possible)... Zelda sends Link back at the end of Ocarina of Time. So what actually happens with that?

Child split - he's sent back to his childhood which may or may not be before he meets Princess Zelda.
Adult split - he's sent back to his childhood so post-Ganondorf ( Read more... )

link's awakening, the wind waker, the minish cap, ocarina of time, adventure of link, the oracle series, majora's mask, four swords, the legend of zelda, a link to the past, legend of zelda, twilight princess

Maybe there is 4 universes, each for a different Link(like the different colored links from Four Swords), and we just haven't gotten to that last split yet ( ... )

xD awesome

The problem with legacy games like Zelda is that there really is no set back story, probably because the original creators had no f**ing idea that it would go this far. And with the pressure to create a new game that surpasses the one before it they just say fuck it and don't even bother trying to create a story. Or they just want to cause us distress and watch fans squirm.
Haha, yeah, canon sometimes contradicts itself. It's sad that there are people who seriously spend all their online time trying to find the "true" or "correct" Zelda timeline. It's pretty ridiculous.

Writing shit like this is a lot more fun xD

Nitendo should have realized that half of the human population who play zelda can't seem to understand that the Zelda timeline makes no since AT ALL ... I think I made some since there... yup..

Well, there are a few games that obviously go together, but other than that, yeah, there doesn't seem to be any "true" timeline like so many fanboys out there think.

If there is or isn't one doesn't really matter to me, anyway. I'll still continue to create all these crack theories xD

No wonder all though fanboys are 40 year olds living with their mothers, and going to overnight comic stores to cosplay in spandex.

Crack theories are the only thing we will ever be able to acheive in Zelda, it's all physics if you think of it that way.

I read a paragraph, decided my sanity was worth more than a timeline argument, and then I went off to play Zelda. XD

Oh come on, TML, don't you want to learn how the timeline splits three times instead of two? XD

I've seriously considered putting the games in a random, nonsensical order and trying to make a coherent single timeline theory out of it, haha. I'm way more interested in crack like this than trying to find a "true" timeline xD If my theories make any sense at all, then maybe that's a sign that really isn't a "real" timeline, heh...

My timeline escapades consist of (1) writing The Book of Mudora, which is my crazy, whimsical view of the timeline and (2) backhand-of-justice-ing everyone who tells me that I have to believe something else because they said so. XD Truth be told, I don't believe Nintendo even has a full timeline in mind, so I think that timeline is just a personal exercise used to expand upon the world and to connect to it on a personal level. :)

That, or a personal exercise in killing braincells.

(spoilers for official timeline)

I've just happened to trip across this post many, many years later, and now that Hyrule Historia is out and the official timeline has a 3-way split it's amusing how accurate your one is. Everything in yours as far as FSA matches the official timeline exactly, though their reasons for the split are very different (they split it on whether or not Link defeated Ganon at the end of OoT).

It's funny how these things turn out.

You have no idea how ecstatic this makes me. Weep for my poor family who will have to endure exclamations that I WAS RIGHT all along lol.

No, seriously, absolutely thank you because otherwise, if I hadn't randomly signed into this account, I really wouldn't have remembered.
