Steampunk NY Harbor, Romana and the Daleks

I really love today's National Geographic photo of the day. It's like a Doctor Who alternate universe.

Speaking of Doctor Who, I've just watched Destiny of the Daleks, Romana II's first episode.

Like many before me, I'm trying to figure out how to cope with the regeneration scene. )

That is a very Whoish picture.

I'm really missing out on not watching any Classic Who, aren't I? Although I've seen an ep or so with Ace and Seven. The Monkeys love those.

Ace and Seven are awesome! And now is the perfect time to steep the Monkeys in Classic Who, I would think -- they're young enough not to care much about the production values, they can just use their imaginations and enjoy the stories. (Then, when they're adults they can appreciate it ironically *and* with nostalgia. *g*) And for you, seeing the Doctor with his different companions and regenerations over time, I love how that has given me a broader perspective on the character and the series.

But also, it's just fun. :)

Yes! If it weren't National Geographic I'd think it had been photoshopped.

What a great photo! I miss the days when NatGeo posted the daily photo on lj, too.

Aw, I didn't know they used to do that! I have the gadget on my iGoogle page, so I see it almost every day, but it would be neat to have it delivered to my Friends page.
