Steampunk NY Harbor, Romana and the Daleks

I really love today's National Geographic photo of the day. It's like a Doctor Who alternate universe.

Speaking of Doctor Who, I've just watched Destiny of the Daleks, Romana II's first episode.

Like many before me, I'm trying to figure out how to cope with the regeneration scene. )

I'll be the first to admit Destiny of the Daleks is not a great episode, but it was my first televised exposure to the Daleks (I knew who they were, of course, being the slightly obsessive type of fellow I am) so it has that going for it. Plus there's this one little bit that I just adore. It's after they've landed on Skaro but before they exit the TARDIS, when the Doctor opens the view screen and says, "Oh look! Rocks!" It struck me as hilarious at the time. (I was twelve, thirteen at the most.)

It may not be the best ever, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I remember the "Rocks!" line and it made me laugh. :) I wonder if it was even scripted.

Good question. I remember the line isn't in the Target novelization, so it was likely either an ad lib or a late addition to the script. Or maybe Terrance Dicks didn't like the line.

Oh, and I forgot to say this in the original comment:

What's the word for when a woman dresses in men's fashions?

Cross-dressing?

Oh, that's interesting! It just seems like something Tom Baker would throw in.

Hmm, cross-dressing. I feel like I'm looking for a word that means either more or less than that, but now I realize I'm not really sure what I mean! It may be that simple.
