Equiniox, storm and Morning Fail

It's still very green around here, not looking like fall yet. In fact, August was so cool and September so wet that the woodland sunflowers and wild marigolds, which normally come on in August, are just starting to bloom. They're everywhere, fields and fields of them. This is on the dirt road just coming out of the woods, with some rare blue sky ( Read more... )

::deep breath::

Cake walk, or even better, a donut walk! I still had some donut holes from yesterday when I met my brother and s-i-l at Krispy Kreme. ... but it looks like I've left them in the car. Sigh.

Yay, glad you liked the pictures! I should have thought to make the big one more of a wallpaper size. May still be able to do that.

Eep, that's not a good start - Bad Fuzz! Hope your day has got better :S

Those are just beautiful pictures. The light is stunning.

In a "silver lining" moment, though, I was able to humorously use my situation in several examples for the grammar we were reviewing. Like the "problem with/disadvantage of/worst thing about" + noun clause sentence, "The problem with living alone is that there's no one to wake you when your alarm doesn't go off." Or the exception sentence, "At 8:15, everyone was in class except for the teacher." *g*

Thank you, I'm glad you liked the pictures! I was hunting for something that looked more fall-ish and less like late summer, but we're just not there yet. Also, it's hard to take pictures when there are two dogs on leashes tangling themselves in your legs and walking into the shot. :)

It's so embarrassing. We have tardy policies for the students, but teachers can't be late. Ever. (Office staff, though, apparently, can routinely show up at 8:30, so they're not around to run messages for late teachers.... grr.) Well, I guess if this is only the third time this has happened in seven years, I'm doing okay.

In his younger days, the Fuzz would have been walking all over my chest, scratching the bed mattress, and meowing by 6:45! I guess he's getting more mellow, or he was as exhausted by the storm as I apparently was.

And I just realized that one of those two other times, it had been a stormy night also. Huh.

Dude, my students would not have waited more than 5 minutes and I would have heard about it for the rest of the year.

Since it's an intensive program, we have class at 8 every day M-F for 75 minutes to 2 hours, and then they have another class right after it every day -- so if they left, they wouldn't have time to really do anything more than get a coffee before their next class. So there was that motivation to stay, I guess, and the fact that we were going to be reviewing for a test. (They also have attendance requirements that are tied to immigration.) But yeah, generally even without those motivating factors my students are pretty respectful, which I appreciate! I remember in college, we would wait ten or maybe fifteen minutes for a teacher before clearing out. Though I only remember being in that situation once or twice in the whole four years.

Hope the rest of your day goes far better than the start! Bad, Fuzz, for not being a better alarm clock! (kidding)

*hugs*

Heh, thank you! I'm thinking that the Fuzz may have even tried to wake me, but judging by the way I felt when I woke up, I must have had a bad night and there's a chance I might have slept through the alarms even if I'd remembered to turn them on. (Come to think of it, the last time I woke up late for class, it had been a stormy night...) So he would have had a tough job, though if he'd employed some of the methods he used in his younger days, like vigorously "kneading" my arms, it probably would have worked. :)
