It's still very green around here, not looking like fall yet. In fact, August was so cool and September so wet that the woodland sunflowers and wild marigolds, which normally come on in August, are just starting to bloom. They're everywhere, fields and fields of them. This is on the dirt road just coming out of the woods, with some rare blue sky showing.
Big storms last night. (We must have had over 15 inches of rain this month.) This morning I woke drenched in sweat and blinking at the sunlight pouring in between the blinds, which is wrong: it should be dark when I wake up. I apparently failed to set my two alarms, and in a major kitty fail, the Fuzz did not wake me for his breakfast. Or if he tried, I was senseless to his gentle attempts. (Dude. You can achieve it on Saturdays but not on a Tuesday?) It was 08:05 and my class started at 08:00. Nobody in the office was answering the phones, but I made it there in 30 minutes, and the students were very polite and forgiving. What a way to start the season, though. I think my heart has just now stopped racing.
