Maybe so she reminds us less of Samantha Carter? In case the horrible accent didn't do it? Heh. I don't know why it was different back in London, unless that was the only wig they could get. Or it showed up better in a dark alley. Or after living all that time she just wanted a change. Some people dye their hair whenever they get bored. :)
I only watched the first hour (had to abandon it for Life), but it was better than the commercials had led me to believe. I would probably watch it again, though I'm not impressed with the acting of the doctor and the daughter. I could watch Tapping and Chris Heyerdahl all day long, though.
I want a picture of Amanda wearing that hat in her first scene. :)
I think I'm going to give Sanctuary more of a chance - I've seen a lot of things where the pilot was not their best work and they needed time to settle in. I'm still hoping they let Amanda drop the accent, but that's probably foolish of me.
Which one was Chris Heyerdahl? I agree about the daughter. The behavioral psych guy didn't catch my interest either, and he should have given it looked like they were trying to make him a sort of young Daniel Jackson.
I'm not in love with that accent, but maybe it will grow on me.
Heyerdahl was Tall Evil Guy (still haven't watched the 2nd half, so I don't know if he got a name or not). He's also Todd the Wraith on Atlantis, if you watch that.
Hee. Yes, Amanda Tapping with a cringeworthy English accent. I still love her though.
Unfortunately I'm still using an s1 style, so your icon won't show up on my journal colors but just on the standard comment page. Hmm, maybe I can post it in a post just for kicks...
I thought it was okay; I'm going to follow the series for now. I wish Will (behavioral psych guy) was more interesting. I hope they flesh him out a bit more in the upcoming episodes, and/or that the actor gets more comfortable in the role.
I'm still caught up in the strange science of Helen's daughter: how exactly did she keep the embryo frozen almost an entire century? They didn't have fancy freezers back in the late 1800s! They had ice boxes, but even those were iffy. And then who did she get to insert the embryo in her? And how did she isolate the embryo to begin with? *brain hurts*
::pets you:: I think trying to analyze the science of this show is probably going to be a recipe for brainsplosion. Good questions though! Hee.
I'm hopeful that the Will actor can get more comfortable in the role, but less optimistic about the writing he'll get to work with, just because from past experience that seems to be the thing that's harder to improve. But I'm going to give it a bit longer, too. If I find my interest just isn't there and it's a chore to watch, I'll drop it, but right now I'm still with it. The neanderthal and the 150-year-old scientist are pluses. :)

I was confused by Amanda's hair. In the flashback it was blonde. Why was it brown now?
