Damian Lewis was recently on Jonathan Ross's radio show, which I sometimes listen to in podcast form. After the episode, I had to look up the guest to make sure it was the Damian Lewis I was thinking of. I said "f***" and "sh**" in class today. Some students said they heard those words a lot in movies and they wanted to know how to use them, so we talked about register and understanding appropriate and inappropriate times for certain language. They're comparing the range to the Alps in Europe, but they had to use ice-penetrating radar to map it because it's buried in a glacier 2000 feet thick. Actually working, but - I'm listening to a BBC podcast of a Welsh-language nature program (Iolo Williams: Natur). Just... because. I wanted to feel what the language sounds like.
