"Photos of people with their most expensive object that they have in their home. I wasn't too insistent in questioning them whether these were the most expensive domestic objects - I simply photographed what people identified by themselves. I think they weren't really hiding anything."

Natalia Stepanova with son Anton, Pskovskaya oblast. Power saw, 3000 rubles ($84).
