I'm hoping to get some legit stuff. There's a shop in Lisbon that might be too out of the ay, but they have at least two brands of wool unique to Portugal, plus really awesome fabrics and ribbons and stuff. Then in Oporto there's at least two shops that are part of a chain, plus the headquarters of another yarn company, so hopefully they have a retail location. All this should be about a 40 minute walk from where I'll stay, and I have a few free afternoons/mornings, at least one free day, and a free weekend. I should be able to go yarn shopping at least once!
Now I have to figure out how to avoid an 11 hour layover in Newark. I'm considering paying a bit extra to fly Lufthansa so I'd go SFO - Hamburg - Lisbon - Azores instead of SFO - Newark - Lisbon - Azores. If only because then I also kind of sort of get to go to Germany and not New Jersey :P

I'm just editing this to say that I recognize my typo and am not fixing it :P

I'm so excited for you. You'll have to bring me back a skein of Portuguese yarn. ;-)
