Last week was week 2 of the new strength training program I'm doing and I definitely went heavier from the week before. This program is intense but I'm really enjoying it. I'm finding I love strength training more than cardio, but I don't know how that will affect my running.
Monday I went to a group run, ended up walking 1.55 miles. Wednesday I didn't make it to run club but I did a lot of walking doing stuff at home. Saturday went walking with another group 1.51 miles. Definitely need to step my mileage up. I'm finding if I end up walking or running after my strength training workouts, I'm more tired. So I should probably start getting up earlier in the morning to get a run in first thing.
My goal this week is to get to run club Wednesday evening and Saturday morning and actually run. I'm also supposed to do a group run with my Pack Training group on Thursday evening, but we'll see.
I think strength training will be great for your running. And it's great that you are enjoying it. The most beneficial workout is the one that you love, right.
Early morning running might be the best way to get the miles in, but somehow I could never do it, I only run in the evenings and in the afternoons.
