Oh, I really liked this--I love fics that tap into using the reboot as a jumping-off point for waxing meta, and this is delicious.

There must be a point where things went wrong. Or more likely, Kal would correct him, where things shifted.

I love this line for that tiny but essential difference between Bruce's fundamental pessimism and Kal's more optimistic (or at least neutral) take on events.

That last line is really gorgeous, and the whole thing has a great creepy mood. Wonderful.

Same here! So much opportunity for snark and heartbreak. Er, I mean. Also, I'm taking the opportunity to mention that there's a comm, reboot_rejected, that's practically empty so far but devoted to fanworkds featuring characters that are erased by the reboot, if you're ever interested.

I was thinking of the Supergirl storyline in Superman/Batman when I wrote this line, and specifically how Bruce thinks of a detective story and Clark of a love story.

Creepy was what I was aiming for, thanks!
