Dear Robyn,
I know this will shock you but I don't think I ever cleaned my shoes in my life. Well, not in the last ten years or so, so at least half my life. I own more than one pair of Converse that I made sure would get dirty after I got them.

I think this says so much about her; the military mentality where you look after your stuff because you can't get it replaced and it will be with you until you're done serving, so look out for your stuff. I guess when you get indoctrinated, it's not easy to shake it afterwards. Not that Robyn seems like she'd want to anyway.
