Summary: Abraham’s empire-building desires began early.
Notes: Last Peanut Butter woooo!
The Wellingstones were very proud of their estate, and made sure it was always immaculately kept, save one special corner near the house that had long since been dubbed “Abe’s Plot.” Discovering the first of Abraham’s two abilities had made his parents aware that it would be easier to set aside a space where he could practice using it than to clean up the yard after he had destroyed it.
Abraham was enthralled with his little patch of real estate, and happily tore it up again and again as he refined his control. In the early years, he contented himself with misshapen heaps of earth, proud enough that he could make them taller than he stood, even on tippy toes. Later, he moved on to igloo replicas and mighty fortresses, large enough that both he and Isabelle could sit in them and talk while he etched “cave drawings” into the inside walls. Other days, he crafted earthen figurines, sometimes mimicking the superhero toys that sat unused on his shelf, and sometimes modeling them after family members. The day he learned how to craft the tiny details in them without ever touching them, he smiled so hard that his mother worried his face would never be the same.
He visited the plot often and for a great many reasons. It provided him with a distraction if Isabelle was out doing something he was not yet allowed to. It gave him something to do with his hands if he had a cold or a broken leg. It soothed him to haul up large chunks of the dirt if he got stressed. There was always something new he could try if he got bored.
Over the years, his interests shifted and the world around him went through many changes. Two things, however, always stayed the same: his love for that plot, and his dream that someday, he could build something that would last longer than his fragile dirt creations.
In time, with a little luck, he thought he could make it happen.
