Two pairs of boots, well tailored and unblemished, and the hems of two rich cloaks brought up the tail of the parade. The men stopped beside him.
“You. Boy,” said one. “You one of them?”

Sethan raised his face, small cheeks caked in a fresh application of dust, eyes wide and meek as he could force them, and solemnly nodded.
