Five sat at the table. Each one stared at one another, gazes shifting focus every few moments, until all eyes rested on the man at the head of the table--Roderigo Borgia, patriarch, mastermind, puppeteer. At Roderigo's right was Lucretia, the closest thing to a golden child the man had after Giovanni's death. Cynical yet brilliant. At his left sat Cesare, the blood knight. Fratricidal--anything-cidal, and hot-blooded. Barely controllable. Then came the illegitimates, Machiavelli and Lìadan, there almost against their wills. Experiment children, the hackers whispered. Roderigo's mind control projects.
These five ruled the town, though the country was all Roderigo's.
