Pomegranate #5. Setting the Mood and Lemon Meringue Pie #6. Slow
Story : knights & necromancers
Rating : PG
Timeframe : 1256
Word Count : ~300

I found this already mostly done as part of a montage I started some time ago and never finished when I was looking for ideas for Falootin's song, and I thought it might work as a nice contrast to what I did end up writing for that.

Rune looked up as Lyssa settled on the bench beside him and that intoxicating warmth that always followed her turned away the cool night air. He smiled as she slid up against him, angling her shoulder under his arm, laying her head against his chest, and peering up at him.

“Gonna stay out here all night?” she said, as he draped his arm across shoulders left bare by her tight red dress.

“I’m a little tired of being stared at.”

Lyssa cocked a brow. “And just who is staring at you?”

“Everyone when I’m with you.” He laughed and she rolled her eyes.

“Are not.”

He pulled her closer, reveling in the heat of her body against his. He’d be more than happy to stay there all night with her to himself. “Maybe you’re just used to it.”

“So dance with me here in the garden instead.” She slipped out from under his arm, taking his hands in hers and tugging him up off of the bench.

“Pardon?” said Rune, stumbling to his feet.

“I can still hear the music out here.”

Rune could hear it too, the faint hum of the strings pouring out of the hall, and he could see the glow from the open doorway as it fell across her face.

“Just you and me and the flowers and the moon,” she said, though he needed no further coaxing; his hands were already sliding into place and his feet were finding the rhythm.

He leaned in to plant a kiss on his brow as they started to sway. “I love you, Lyss.”

She leaned her head against his chest as they settled into a slow circle around the patio. “Love you too.”
