Ruki pulled off his shirt and looked in the mirror. He sighed and brushed his blond hair from his face before pulling off his pants. He adjusted the swimsuit that he had worn underneath them then left the changing room.
He was met with various catcalls and cheers as he emerged into the hot summer day. He blushed and looked down. “Does anyone care to remind me why we decided to come to the beach?” He asked the four other men in front of him.
“Well, you see Ruki, we all wanted to see what you looked like in a bathing suit.” Uruha smiled and shrugged. The other three laughed.
Ruki groaned. “You guys are too much.” He said and walked over to Aoi. The dark haired man smiled down at him before kissing him on the forehead.
“Well I think you look sexy if that’s any consolation.” He whispered causing Ruki to blush even more.
“You’d better.” The blond stuck out his tongue and grabbed his towel from Aoi. “Well, let’s get going then.” He let Aoi take his hand and be led towards the water.
Uruha was carrying a bag full of beach toys and a blanket. Reita and Kai were following behind them carrying another blanket and shyly holding hands. Ruki turned and smiled at Reita who smiled back.
It had been almost five months since he had met Aoi, even though to everyone it seemed as though they had been together much longer. Ruki put his sunglasses back on and they found a spot on the soft white sand.
Ruki helped spread out the blankets and observed his four friends.
When he had first met Aoi, ending up like this was so far from his mind. In his wildest dreams he never imagined that things would end up like this.
When everything crashed down around him, he didn’t believe that things could ever repair themselves enough that they would all be able to smile and laugh together.
When Reita had met Aoi, Ruki felt all the apprehension in his heart slowly begin to fade. Now, they all had become friends. It hadn’t been an easy road, but they all traveled down it together nonetheless.
After he and Reita had made up, Ruki stayed at Aoi and Uruha’s for the remainder of the week. He and Reita began to hang out again at school and talk. Slowly Ruki felt that their relationship was beginning to repair itself.
Deciding that he should see what it would be like to live with Reita again, Ruki returned home on Monday after school. Kai tagged along to make sure that there were no awkward moments. They all talked and laughed like they used to, but as Ruki left to go to bed, and watched Kai and Reita disappear into the other room he knew that things had changed so much that they could never go back to how they were.
Ruki woke up by himself the next morning and showered and got dressed. He found Reita and Kai in the kitchen making breakfast. He had pulled out his usual bottle of orange juice before sitting at the table. He sighed and bit his lip.
“I’m moving out.” He had said quietly.
Reita had dropped the spoon he was holding and Kai stopped giggling.
“You’re what?” Reita asked moving to sit across from him.
“I’m moving out. I’m going to move in with Uruha and Aoi.”
Reita looked at him and frowned. “Well, I can’t stop you, but I will miss having you around.”
“Thank you Rei. I wanted to be able to move back in with you, but so many things have changed that I just don’t think it will be the same.” Ruki paused and looked at Kai. “Besides, it looks like you have a new roommate.”
Reita smiled and got up and hugged Ruki. “Promise you won’t forget about us?”
“I promise, and I’ll come visit a lot.”
Kai had smiled at him and whispered a thank you in his ear before going back to cooking breakfast.
So Ruki had moved his stuff into Aoi and Uruha’s place. Uruha skipped around the apartment the whole day while helping Ruki unpack. The older man had really taken to him.
So they finished off the school year, all of them graduating, and Ruki had received honors. He was accepted into Tokyo U with a scholarship even though he wasn’t exactly sure what he was going to do now.
So in short Ruki knew how they ended up sitting at the beach on a week off from University classes, but he wasn’t sure how he managed to be that lucky.
“Let’s play monkey in the middle!” Reita grinned as he came up next to Ruki and Aoi. He looked at the dark haired man holding on to Ruki and for a moment Ruki could see his eyes harden but it was gone before anyone else could.
Ruki knew it still wasn’t easy for Reita to see him with Aoi, but he was grateful that his friend was doing his best to be happy for them. There were times when he would see Reita gazing almost longing at him as Kai whispered in his ear. But then Reita eyes would land back on the brunette and his face would relax.
Ruki was happy for his two friends, more then he thought was possible.
Kai grabbed a ball from the bag that Uruha had dumped on the sand. “Last one in is in the middle.”
Reita and Kai ran towards the water. Ruki laughed and Aoi kissed him. “You’d better get going, or you’ll be in the middle.”
Ruki looked up surprised. “Aren’t you two playing?”
Uruha lay down on the sand. “Not now, maybe later.” The honey blond pulled out a magazine. Aoi smiled and sat down next to Uruha.
“We need to find some new guitar equipment.” The dark haired man shrugged and Ruki glared through his sunglasses and stalked off towards the water.
Kai was giggling as he ran away from Reita who was trying to splash him.
“Ruki’s in the middle!” Kai called and made room for Ruki to walk in between him and Reita.
Ruki fold his arms over his chest and pouted.
“Aw, Ruki, you’re so cute.” Reita raised his eyebrows.
“Hey, I heard that!” Aoi called from shore.
Ruki laughed and he looked at Reita who swallowed before laughing as well. Reita looked at the ball in his hand that he had caught a moment before when Kai threw it at him. He dipped it in the water before throwing it at Aoi.
Ruki giggled as the ball landed right in between Aoi and Uruha spraying them with water.
“You’re going to pay for that!” Uruha said jumping up and running, followed by Aoi into the water.
Aoi grabbed Ruki around the waist as he raced by, picking up the small blond. Ruki screamed as Aoi carried him out into the deeper water.
“Aoi!! No!!” Ruki cried as Aoi threw him in. Ruki came up and glared at the taller man. “I’m going to kill you!”
Aoi smiled and swam towards him. “Really? Now how do you plan on doing that?”
“No sex for a month.” Ruki raised his eyebrows and stuck out his tongue. He saw Uruha fall into the water in a fit of giggles upon hearing what he had said.
Reita was too busy dragging Kai deeper in to have noticed and for that Ruki was thankful.
“You wouldn’t dare.” Aoi glared back.
Ruki grabbed his sunglasses that were floating next to him and put them back on. Then he began to make his way back towards the beach.
Aoi reached out and grabbed him from behind and wrapped his arms around his waist. “Ruki, don’t leave.” Aoi breathed in his ear. “I’m sorry, it’s just you’re so sexy when you’re wet.”
Ruki blushed and he turned in Aoi’s embrace meeting the taller mans lips. “I love you.” He mumbled looking at the older man through his wet bangs.
“I love you too.” Aoi smiled and pulled him to chest.
“And I love both of you!” Uruha cried throwing his arms around both Ruki and Aoi.
Ruki groaned and he could hear Kai laughing off in the distance. He finally managed to get out of the Aoi and Uruha sandwich and make his way over to where his other two friends were.
Ruki smiled as he watched the other four men. He was so thankful to have them in his life and he had honestly never been happier.
He and Kai had become close over the last new months. Reita, was and would always be like a brother to him. He so happy that the other man was in his life, and even though they were not longer living together, Ruki felt as though their lives could never been separated
Uruha had become very important to him as well. Even though he had only known the honey haired man as long as he knew Aoi, they had bonded almost instantly. In Uruha he had found someone to look up to, he had found someone who would always be there for him, and who he would always do the same. He had found a friend.
In Aoi, he had found his future. His first love. The best friend he had ever had. He had found the bright spot that was always shining even when he couldn’t see it. He had found his reason for tomorrow.
The End

And now onto the Side Story ^_^ <3
Brighten Tomorrow; ReitaxKai Side Story
Kai sat crossed legged on the couch flipping through a magazine. He looked around the apartment that he now called his own, the apartment that Reita had once shared with Ruki.
There was still small remnants that were there to remind him that the place he was now filling was once occupied by the small blond. There were pictures on the wall, of faces smiling at jokes, in places, that Kai had never known. The way the furniture was set up, a random book lying around, and the smell of cologne that was neither his or Reita’s all surrounded him to make sure that he knew that lives had been lived here, that there had been memories that he could never touch, and feeling he could never replace.
Kai sighed and looked back down to his magazine. He was waiting for Reita to come home. When the other man was around he rarely let his mind wander to their friend.
He knew that Reita still felt something for Ruki, and he sometimes felt that he did too. It was strange that the one person they had both fallen for was the one that brought them together in the end.
Kai threw the magazine onto the table and got up. He began to pace back and forth across the living room.
“Are you trying to make a hole in my floor?” Arms wrapped around his waist.
Kai smiled. “Welcome home Rei-kun.” He said softly. He felt the other mans lips on his neck and turned so he could face him. “How was your day?”
Reita smiled. “Better now that I can come home to you.”
Kai giggled and pulled away. “Let’s go out ne?”
Reita frowned. “What? Why?”
Kai pouted. “Look, either we go out or I’m making dinner, and I’m not really in the mood to hear you complain about my cooking.”
Reita laughed and agreed. They left the apartment a short while later. When they reached the street Reita reached out and took the brunettes hand in his own.
They walked to a near by park and sat on the swings. The weather was warming up and Kai was glad that it wasn’t cold out anymore. He always enjoyed spring time, and being able to share it with Reita made it that much better.
“What are you thinking about?” Reita asked moving slightly on his swing.
“About spring time, about you, about us.” Kai smiled.
“What about it?”
“Well, I don’t know I guess it’s just that everything is new in spring, everything starts fresh. Kind of like we are. I mean, it’s new this time.”
Reita nodded. “I’m happy that we decided to give this a try Kai.” He blushed slightly. “Come on,” He got up from his swing. “I want to show you something.”
Kai let himself be led into a grove of nearby trees. “Where are we going Reita?” He asked following the blond.
“Just a little farther.” Reita took off his coat and lay it on the ground. He sat on it then pulled Kai down onto his lap. He removed the brunettes coat and put it next to his own.
“What are you doing?” Kai giggled as Reita pulled him closer.
“This.” Reita’s lips closed on Kai’s and the brunette gasped. Reita began to kis him, timid at first then stronger, more needing. Kai kissed the other man back, running his hands through the blond hair.
Kai moaned softly as he pressed himself against Reita. The other man moved so he could lay the brunette down and then climb on top of him. Kai smiled as he felt Reita fingers slide into the top of his pants. He lifted his hips to allow Reita to get rid of his jeans. He blushed as he saw Reita look at him.
It wasn’t the first time that the other man had seen him naked, or the first time they had done anything since they’d decided to get back together, but there was something in the way that Reita was touching him, the way that he kissed him, that made Kai feel nervous.
Reita began to struggle with his belt and Kai reached up to help him. Ridding his lover of his pants Kai pulled Reita down for another kiss. He felt Reita’s hand begin to dig around in the pockets of the jackets he was laying on. He opened his eyes, he wasn’t sure when he closed them and he looked up at the blond breathing heavily.
“You planned this.” He smiled.
Reita nodded applying the lubricant to his fingers and then himself. “Maybe…” He said coyly.
Kai opened his mouth to argue more but Reita slowly pushed a finger inside of him and all that came out of his parted lips was a moan. Reita smiled down at him.
“Reita…” The brunette breathed out huskily and the blond took his hand back. Reita brushed the hair from Kai’s face before pushing inside of him.
After a few moments and a sign of encouragement from Kai, the blond began to move. He grabbed onto the brunettes hand and they moaned together in the small forest that surrounded him.
Kai came calling out Reita’s name and with a few more thrusts Reita released inside of the brunette. Reita fell onto Kai and lay breathing deeply holding the other man tightly. He caught his breath and moved off of the smaller man.
They lay there for a few minutes basking in the after glow, Kai’s head resting on Reita’s chest.
Finally the blond sat up and cleaned off his lover. He helped the other man get dressed before walking hand and hand out of the grove of trees.
Reita squeezed the brunettes hand and smiled at him as they neared their apartment. “Kai…” He said softly.
“Yeah?”
“I was wondering…”
Kai looked at the blond and smiled. “I don’t think there’s anything to be shy about Rei.”
Reita laughed. “Well, I was wondering if…if well if this was for real.”
Kai blinked. “What do you mean?”
The blond blushed. “It’s just…I can’t believe that I have you, that well, that you’re my boyfriend.”
“Well, it is for real Reita, and don’t you forget it.” Kai paused and gazed into the distance. “But to be honest sometimes I wonder if I actually have you as a boyfriend.”
“Ah…” Reita bit his lip. “You’re still worried about him aren’t you?”
Kai knew he was talking about Ruki. Although the brunette had become very close with Ruki lately, and knew that all that he wanted was for Reita and Kai’s relationship to work out. Kai couldn’t help but feel jealous of how much Reita actually liked Ruki.
“I just feel that I can never take his place for you.” Kai lowered his gaze.
Reita stopped walking and pulled the brunette to his chest. He raised Kai’s chin and met his eyes. He kissed him lightly on the lips. “No, you can’t.” Kai’s eyes widened. “But, you don’t have to, you have your own place.” Reita smiled and kissed him again. “Let’s go home. I’ll even let you make dinner.”
Kai nodded and smiled. “Okay.”
When they entered the apartment, Kai didn’t feel haunted by Ruki’s memory, but rather comforted by the thought that the small blond was looking out for him, and that some how it was because of him that Kai now had his chance with Reita.
Kai knew that there was still a lot that he and Reita had to deal with, but he had faith in what they felt, he had faith in them, and with a little help everything would turn out fine.
