Part 1

Ruki sighed and slammed his text book close before hitting his head on his desk.

"What's wrong Ru-kun?" Said Kai leaning over the table and poking him in the ribs.

"I just can't study anymore!" Ruki turned his head so he could see his friend.

Kai smiled and shook his head. "I'm sure you'll do fine anyways."

Ruki groaned. "I just don't see why we have to write this stupid test in the first place. I mean do we really need to know what x-1(2x+4) is? Or what kind of soil is best for growing wheat or..."

"Ok ok," Kai held up his hands. "I see your point." His brown haired friend laughed and closed his binder. "We just have to get through two more days of this."

"Giving up already?" A voice said over Ruki's shoulder and before he had time to turn around a head of blond and brown hair appeared before him.

"I wouldn't talk Reita, you've been reading that manga of yours for the past half hour and before that you had that music magazine and before that..."

Reita laughed and pulled a chair up to Kai and Ruki's table. "So you guys wanna hang out later? I think 8 hours of studying is enough for one day." Reita smiled and leaned back in his chair.

Kai shrugged. "Sure, why not. Just let me give my mom a call to tell her I won't be home til late."

"Oh she's home? When did she get back?" Ruki asked.

"Yesterday, and she leaves again the day after tomorrow." Kai answered pulling out his cell phone and sneaking out of the library. Kai lived at home with his mother, but she was gone away on buisseness most of the time.

"So how about you Ru? Joining us tonight?"

Ruki shook his head. "Can't, I work."

Reita pouted. "Til what time?"

"9."

"So, should I come pick you up?"

"Sure, if the two of you aren't busy." He and Reita had moved in together at the beginning of the school year. Most of the time Kai would end up staying with them when his mom was away. The three of them had become close.

Kai came back with a smile on his face. "Mom says it's ok! So what's the plan guys?"

"Well Ruki works til 9, so we can do whatever til then, and after I thought we could just go home and watch a movie or something." Reita nodded looking pleased with himself. Ruki shook his head and glanced at the clock.

"Well I'd better get going. Ritaru-san will be pissed if I'm late again." He stood up and scowled at Reita.

"Hey! It's not my fault that you were up all night playing video games."

Kai punched their blond friend lightly on the shoulder. "Yes it is!"

Reita sighed in defeat. "I guess it is." They all laughed and Ruki grabbed his bag off the floor.

"Well, I guess I'll see you later." He waved and left the school library.

* * *

Ruki finished buttoning his red dress shirt and tucked it into his black pants. He sighed and grabbed his apron out off his bag on the floor and tied it around his waist. Looking in the mirror he fixed his whitish blond hair and redrew on his thin line of eyeliner. Stepping out of the bathroom and into the kitchen of the small cafe where he worked Ruki glanced at the clocked, he still had five minutes before he was scheduled, but deciding he may as start he clocked in and stepped out into the front.

"Ruuuukkkiii!!" Called a cheerful voice and he was pulled into a hug. "Thank god you're heeerrrreeee."

Ruki pulled away and straightened his clothes, he tried to look angry but could help but smile. "Hey Shouta, I can see you're doing well." He and Shouta had been working together for over a year now and no matter how insane his coworker could be, it always brought a smile to Ruki's face.

"Oh Ruki, I was so worried I'd be working alone tonight! But now you're here! Oh it's going to be so much fun!" The older man squeeked and hugged Ruki again. It was always interesting working with Shouta, as the older man was the most energenic person he'd ever met, and the fact he was usually up from anything. Ruki looked around the cafe, it was pretty empty, only a few regulars who were already served occupied the room.

"Well looks like you've got everything under control so far." He observed and Shouta smiled.

"Damn right, I do." Ruki shook his head. "So Ruki, what have you been up to lately?" Shouta asked jumping up on the counter and sipping a drink he'd already poured for himself. Ruki leaned on the counter opposite from his friend, happy that his work wasn't too strict when it came to how they acted, beside, their boss, Ritaru-san, wasn't there that night, and that left Shouta in charge. Ruki was glad that he didn't have to lock up that night.

"Well basically all I've been doing is studying for that university entrance exam that we have to do on Friday."

"Hey it's Tuesday so you're almost done aren't you? We should go out to celebrate this weekend! It'll be so much fun! We can even drag Reita and Kai along!" Shouta grinned excitedly. Ruki knew that there was no way that he was going to get out of this, but he was ok with it. Shouta was only a year older then him and other then Kai and Reita, he was his only other close friend.

"Alright, just give me a call on friday and let me know the plan. I'll be sure to let the other know." Ruki glanced across the cafe and brushed his hair from his eyes.

"Who you looking for Ruki?" Shouta chanted from behind me.

"No one, just seeing if anyone needed a refill or something."

"Uh huh," Shouta winked. Ruki opened his mouth to question what his friend was talking about when a bunch of school girls came in and took a seat. "I'll get it!" Shouta's eyes lit up and he jumped off the counter almost racing towards the table. Ruki laughed and began to clean.

A few minutes later Shouta came skipping back over a huge smile on his face. "Ru-kun can you help me make these drinks."

"Of course," Ruki said looking over the order. That's how it went for the next few hours. Shouta taking most of the orders and Ruki taking cash and helping to make the drinks. Around six-thirty the place was empty so as usual Shouta took his seat on the counter and Ruki leaned against it.

"Wow, we're almost done." Shouta said looking at the clock. Ruki nodded, he was looking forward to getting off and just hanging out with Reita and Kai, it had been a while since the three of them had done something, and it had been a stressful few weeks since they had all been preparing for their test. "I'm so tired." Shouta complained.

"Take a break," Ruki suggested but Shouta shook his head.

"Later, I'm here later then you remember."

"True, but I'm not the one complaining." Ruki laughed and Shouta reached out to hit him when the door opened and two people walked in. Ruki watched as they took a seat at the table in the back corner, beside the window, it was the table they always sat on. Ruki didn't know both their names but they came in nearly everyday, and from what he could tell they were college students. The one with honey blond hair was named Uruha, and Ruki only knew that because Shouta had shared an art class with him the last semester. Uruha's friend however was very much a mystery to him. He had shiny black hair with white extensions underneath, and the left side of his bottom lip was pierced. He had dark eyes that had always facinated Ruki. It was about two months ago that Shouta had caught him watching the dark haired man, and ever since he had relentlessly teased him about it. Ruki of course would never admit to having a crush, especially on another man, but Shouta thought that it was cutest thing in the world.

"On second thought," Shouta said jumping off the counter.

"Don't you dare..." Ruki glared at him.

"I'm gonna take my break. Make sure to get that order!" Shouta grinned. "See you in fifteen!"

"Shouta!" Ruki cried as his friend dissappeared into the back before groaning. Grabbing his pad of paper and a pen he slowly made his way toward Uruha and his friend. He looked over their table as he approached. It was covered with papers and textbooks, and Ruki could tell they were studying, that why they usually came in. "Hi!" He said standing infront of their table.

Uruha looked up at him and smiled in return. "Hi." Ruki looked over at the darker hair man and was shocked when he noticed the intense brown eyes staring at him. He swallowed and forced himself to continue.

"Can I get you anything?" He asked trying to avoid looking back at Uruha's friend.

"Umm...I'll have a Latte please." The blond said brushing the hair from his face. Ruki nodded and wrote it down, even if it wasn't really necessairy.

"And for you?" He said summoning up his courage and looked back at the other man, whose eyes were still on him.

The man blink and then ran a hand through his styled hair. It was then that Ruki noticed that he too was wearing makeup. Glancing at Uruha he noticed that he too wore make up. Ruki was a bit shocked because he was used to be the only person he knew who wore anything type of makeup.

The dark hair man looked him over and gave a small but cunning smile. "What's good?"

The question caught Ruki off gaurd and he looked away blushing slightly. "Uh...well I like the Carmel Mocha but..."

The man smiled bigger. "I'll have one of those."

"Ok..." Ruki tried to write it down as well but gave up when his hand was shaking too much. "I'll be right back with those." With that he turned away and made his way back to the counter, all the while cursing Shouta in his head. Ruki mixed the drinks and busied himself for an extra minute or so he could think about what just happened. He shook his head not really believing what the man had said to him. He picked up the drinks and walked back to his only two customers. He placed Uruha's drink infront of him. "Here you go." He looked over at the other man and tried to smile. "And this is yours. I hope that you like it."

The dark haired man smiled. "I will."

"Well, let me know if you need anything else." Ruki said as he walked away and went straight into the back of the store, nearly knocking Shouta over as he opened the door. "Shouta! Have you been standing here watching the whole time?" He accused and Shouta just grinned back.

"Well of course! I wouldn't have missed that for the world"

Ruki sighed and crossed my arms. "That wasn't funny."

"Maybe not , but it was amusing to watch."

Ruki groaned. "I swear if you leave like that ever again, I'm going to kill you."

Shouta giggled. "But then you would never have talked to him. What's his name anyways?"

"I don't know!" Ruki fixed his apron. "Come on, you're coming back and helping me clean."

Shouta pouted but allowed himself to be pulled back into the front of the cafe. So for the next hour and a half they cleaned. It was after eight when Ruki sighed and looked over at Shouta.

"Ok, we're still dead, so I'm going to get a drink and study." He went to the back and grabbed his note book and threw it on the counter. Sitting on a stool facing Shouta he began to flip through his notes.

"What do you want to drink?" Shouta asked playing with his brown hair.

"You're making me a drink?" Ruki said shocked looking at his coworker.

"Yeah, I can be nice too."

"Surprise me." He said going back to his notes.

"As you wish!" Shouta said dissappearing into the back. Ruki began to look over the last four years of history notes he had. He was into his third unit when he felt a hand on his shoulder. Jumping slightly he turned, his mouth dropping open.

"Um...hi." The dark haired man said softly looking at him with his dark eyes.

"Hi..."

"I'm sorry if I scared you." He continued in a smooth voice.

Ruki shook his head. "It's okay."

"I wasn't going to bug you, but it seems your friend has vanished."

Ruki looked up and sure enough Shouta was no where to be found. "I'm going to kick his ass." Ruki moaned putting his head in his hands.

The other man laughed softly. "Don't worry about it. But my friend has sent me to pay as well as get him a treat of some sort."

Ruki nodded and got up from his seat. Moving around the counter he punched in the two drinks into the regerister before moving to the showcase which held their baked goods. "What did he want?" He asked as calmly as he could.

"Well I'm not really sure, he's just too lazy to come over here on his own."

"Well...those cookies are pretty good. My roommate Reita always eats them."

"Oh? So you don't live with your parents?"

Ruki shook his head. "No."

"That's interesting," the man frowned as he looked over the selection of food. "Well if you say those cookies are good, I'll believe you."

Ruki smiled trying to hide the blush that was creeping into his cheeks. "How many do you want?"

"Two, I guess." Ruki moved to take them from their spot. "Better make it three." Ruki nodded and passed over the cookies. He moved back to his regerister and punched them in as well.

The dark hair man watched him as he came back. "It comes to 7350yen." The man passed him some bills and he went back to get change.

"So how long have you worked here?" The man asked as Ruki gave him the coins.

"Over a year and a half." He answered meeting the others gaze.

"So..."

"Aaaaooooiiii!!!" The dark haired man turned towards his blond companion.

"Yes Uruha?" He answered.

"Where's my sweets?"

"Coming." The man looked back towards Ruki and smiled.

"Aoi..." Ruki whispered outloud to himself, to test out the name. Aoi smiled down at him.

"Here you go Ru-kun! One Shouta special all for you!" Shouta called as he emerged from the back. Seeing that Ruki was in the middle of talking to the dark haired man he put the drink down on the counter before spinning around and making for the back again. "Sorry to interupt!" Ruki reached behind him and grabbed the coller of his friend shirt before he could dissappear.

"You're not leaving again," He said in a low hiss. Shouta nodded and grabbed a towel and went about cleaning the tables.

Ruki looked up shyly at the dark haired man still infront of him, who turned out to be smiling an amused look on his face.

"Thanks for all your help tonight." He said picking up the plate of cookies.

"Anytime." Ruki managed to choke out.

"See you later Ruki." Ruki's eyes widened in shock as Aoi walked away.

Moments later Shouta was back at his side.

"So? Tell me everything!"

"There's nothing to tell."

"But what's his name?"

"Aoi..." Ruki said, liking how it rolled off his tongue.

"Oh, Ruki has a..."

"Ruki! Ruki!" Reita came running in followed by a red faced Kai.

"Hi Rei, hey Kai, what's happening?"

Shouta giggled and went into the back, Ruki looked after him for a second and rolled his eyes.

"We got this amazing movie!"

"You're off now right?"

"Ruki, you wouldn't believe how much Reita dragged me around Shibuya today!"

"I dragged you?"

"Ok ok!" Ruki interupted his friends and laughed softly. "You can tell me later. But next time you go to Shibuya, I want to go, I always miss the trips there!"

Shouta came back out and handed Ruki his bag. "Well see you tomorrow Ruki! Have a goodnight!"

"Come on Ruki, I'm starving!" Reita said grabbing his friends arm and dragging him around the counter.

"Ok, just let me change."

"There no time!" Reita complained.

"Here," Kai reached out and undid his apron. He then untucked his shirt and unbuttoned the top and bottom buttons. "There, now you look normal. Let's get going."

Ruki grabbed his binder and shoved it into his bag along with his apron. "Ok, you guys win. Let's go home."

"Bai guys!" Shouta said passing a bag across the counter. Reita squeeled and grabbed the bag before skipping out of the cafe.

"Thanks Shouta, now he'll be up all night!" Kai groaned and followed the blond. Ruki flashed his coworker a smile before looking toward the corner of the room where he met the gaze of a pair of dark eyes. Aoi lifted up his cup slightly before smiling and going back to his work.

Ruki blushed and stepped out into the cool night, somewhat confused and somewhat excited about the night.

"Aoi..." he said to himself enjoying the sound of the name more and more.

"Ruki! Let's go, or we'll miss the train." Reita called from a block away.

Ruki smiled and with one last look back at the dark haired man ran after his friends.
