“Daijoubu?(are you alright?) Are you not feeling well again? You’ve been drinking your orange juice again. It’s more frequent too. Are you having fainting spells again?” he asked looking worriedly at her ready to catch her in case she falls again.
Hmm? I’m fine, I think. I do feel queasy from time to time but it isn’t like my usual fainting spells. As for this, I think I just got addicted to orange juice. Anyway, it’s healthy so no harm done.” She assured him just as the nurse attendant called him to come to the doctor’s office.
They were at the hospital for her follow up check-up. He insisted on having it to help her with her fainting spells which seem to occur more frequently the last few days.
“Stay here and don’t move around too much. I’ll be right back.” He told her sternly as he let her lie down on the hospital bed in case she faints again.
“Hai, wakattemasu.(ok, I get it.)” She obediently replied, raising her right hand to her forehead in mock salute.
When he came back into the room, she was already sitting at the edge of the bed with her feet dangling.
“I thought I told you to stay still?” he reprimanded her.
“I did. I just went to the bathroom, but you took so long, I got bored and I ran out of orange juice.” She replied showing him the empty bottle. “Anyway, what did the doctor say?” she asked but her smile faded as she saw his expression drop.
“Ano…” The doctor said that he found something on your tummy and he said that it will continue to grow by itself until...” he stated slowly, his expression grim.
“And what? Until?” she pressed on, starting to get worried.
“Until it goes out by itself after around eight or nine months or so.” He added hastily and observed her reaction.
“Huh? Dou yo koto?(what do you mean?)” she asked, puzzled. Then he grinned. Her face brightened. “You mean…I’m…” she finally realized but couldn’t believe it.
“We’re going to be parents soon!” he finished. She shouted with glee and jump unto his arms which almost made him tumble over.
“Itte…tte…(it hurt) You shouldn’t do that anymore, what if you hurt yourself and the baby?” he scolded her again but he was still smiling.
“Uh! You’re right.” She patted her tummy. “Gomen ne akachan(Sorry Baby). Mama will behave from now on.” She said.
“And Papa will make sure Mama will keep her word.” He added. They both laughed.
“Saa tte to(well then). Let’s go and buy you more of that orange juice then shall we?” he suggested as he helped her up.
“Nee, do you think the baby will turn orange if I drink so much OJ?” she asked as they walked out of the room.
“Let’s go ask Doctor.” He stopped in his tracks and they made a U-turn to the doctor’s office .Rin laughed.
