no law against it?? in the US if you'd leave a 7 year old alone, he'd be taken away from you!!

I asked my husband. The law doesn't speak of this, so technically it's allowed. Now if it leads to accidents, it can be considered neglect.

I think this is technically the same in the UK - there's no definite age at which you can or can't leave a child home alone, but you can be prosecuted for neglect if you leave a baby alone, or leave school age children alone for a long time, or whatever.
