Sandy, oh Sandy ...

Somehow, I wish they had named this hurricane something else. Sandy just sounds so fluffy and blonde -- like Sandra Dee or Olivia Newton John. A cheerleader. Not the looming "Frankenstorm" they're predicting ( Read more... )

Yeah, we were getting ready for the last 4 days. The winds are already blowing here and the storm is off N. Carolina. Evacuations here started this morning for low lying areas. With 5 days of rain coming, I'll be staying inside. Power will probably go out and be out for days and all public transportation shuts down at 7PM tonight until the storm passes. I believe it’s a lot closer to you by now though. Batten down the hatches and be safe.

It all depends on the track. I don't anticipate they will shut down public transportation here. But it is a miserable day here. Now I can see the wind is stronger than it was a few hours ago.

Well, all public transportation shuts down at 7PM in the city. When the winds reach 60 MPH the bridges close down as well. Nothing more to do but listen to the winds blow and watch the weather channel for updates until the power goes out.

Stay safe.

Yeah, I think we all feel like we're waiting for the storm to hit Atlantis. Wet Sheppard always works, too.

That's kind of why I suggested that episode and posted that
pix in particular...
It is my hope this thing does not stall out like Gloria did when
we were on Taiwan........12 hours of horrific winds and
drenching rain.....
Up till then she was traveling slow like Sandy also.

We've got family in New York … and Gracie is in school in New Hampshire.

This would be one of the drawbacks of having your kids far from home.

You know my prayers are with Gracie and your family in NYC. Keep your fingers crossed that we keep power on here. I'll be in touch via iPhone if nothing else.

Thanks. And you take care of yourself, you hear? This thing is gonna get nasty for a lot of people.

Maybe we can actually start talking seriously about climate change now. Yeah …

Raining all weekend and now the tail of Hurricane Sandy coming in tomorrow...at least on the 7th floor we won't have a flood. Stay safe roomie and as dry as possible.

Not so worried about flooding, being on the top of the hill. I really don't want the power to go out. Ugh. Well, there's nothing I can do about that. I'm keeping my laptop and cell phone fully charged I'll should have 3G service even if the power goes out.
