... and then the new arrival asked for their father. Consider his heart strings pulled at. Sick, asking for a parent, and with all this snow--
Turning on the audio feed as he scrambles around to get his coat and scarf.] This place is called Ruby City. You just got off the train, right?
[Pardon the concern/worry in his tone. It's cold, and that cough.] What's your father's name? Maybe I've heard him over the communication feeds.

she must be going insane. but that's okay. she'd rather die of insanity and cold than this disease. or ... or heartbreak.]
Ruby... I've never heard of it before. This isn't Japan, is it?
[she pauses, and then:] Y-- [she hacks into her hand again.]

[Pausing, and there's more rustling--someone pulling on a coat.] Japan...? ... ... I'm afraid not. This place isn't part of any world that I know about; none of the stars are familiar.
[Then another, much odder sound that people from his universe could identify as the sound of a Corridor opening.
Crunch. The crunching of footsteps on snow; he's at the train station now. Memorizing the name now.] Okuda Einosuke...
... I don't think I've heard that name before, but I'll keep my ears open for it. [More crunching; more footprints in snow.]

I'm familiar enough with technology -- just not like this. It's like a cross between a telephone and a pocket watch.
[he is, huh? a--what?] Wait! This isn't your world?
And you've been to more than just this place?

the tall, cloaked man at her side has given her a good first impression of this place. and now, this newcomer, also is as well. she smiles briefly, as she rubs her hands together for warmth. her cheeks, as well as her dark eyes are bright with fever...
yeah, she's sick. but not wanting anyone to worry needlessly over her.]
Yes, thank you. And you?
[no... she isn't. but please don't worry. :c]
[ooc; hey! just a heads up that for continuity's sake, my character and terra from kingdom hearts will both be responding to this thread. so the posting order can be naoe -> takiko -> terra. hope that's cool!]

I am fine.
[Then he looked at the other man, familiar with his face over the network. And no, they never got each other's names.]
There was something I needed to get from a shop.
[Also he wanted to live through that familiarity.]
(ooc: Yup, that's cool!)
