[[Theta is sitting at her chair in her shop, the clocks and clockworks around her all ticking along merrily. She smiles at the camera, though someone well versed in noting details about a person might notice that it's just a bit forced and stressed ( Read more... )

[Good evening, Theta. Have an Equius wandering into your shop, sans glasses and looking a little ruffled. He had missed you.]

It refers to blood color. Troll blood comes in a spectrum of color, from ruddy brown to imperial purple. Though there are many subtle variances, there are ten main categories one can fall into. Mine is royal blue. Tavros's is orange. And Gamzee's is as close to purple a landtroll can get. A few drops of red are all that separate him from the sea dwellers. However, this means that Gamzee's sopor pies are sort of a necessity - the closer to purple a troll's blood is, the more violent they become. Were it not for Nepeta's influence, I would be a vastly different troll. Even then, I can't always rein in my anger. [He gives Theta a small, sheepish smile] If you here crashes coming from my side of the shop, I would recommend you keep your distance. I also hope you don't mind if I reinforce the walls with metal, lest I bring the ceiling down on our heads.

[Returning to the subject of his romance, he tilts his head to the side with a shrug, tucking a bit of hair behind his ear.] You offer a unique perspective, and present ( ... )

Perhaps reinforcing the walls is a good idea, yes. [[She doesn't mention how a crash like that at the wrong time could destroy her work. For all her brash and even openly obnoxious nature, ergaleomancy is a rather quiet craft.]]

You're very good at summarising your knowledge, though, that's to be commended. Tell me about 'landtrolls' versus 'sea dwellers'?

[[She lets the topic of his romance lie as it is. She's said her piece, and there's nothing more she can really say on the topic, so she opts to entirely skip it.]]

Tavros and I did make quite the mess the other day. We were lucky we did not break anything.

[Twirling his hair thoughtfully around a finger, Equius purses his lips, mulling over how to explain this] It is an old rivalry, you could say. Sea dwellers are amphibious, with gills upon their sides and ears shaped like fins. Their blood is exclusively shades of purple, and they are rather... psychotic creatures. They rule because they are the most violent, and therefore the most powerful. In my experience, they are completely incapable of self-restraint. One of our number, Eridan, continually throws himself at every one he comes into contact with. It's quite discomforting to watch, and even worse to be his current focus ( ... )

Mm...I'll see what I can do about tutoring him, though I don't know if what humans call leadership will even vaguely resemble what you do.

To be a leader is a very difficult balance, and realistically I think, from the things you say, it sounds like you would be a very good leader, and perhaps the only ideal one out of the choices available.

Theta, I'm sure we are in complete agreement when I say anything, anything at all would be an improvement to his current state of mind.

And you flatter me. [He ducks his head, hiding a small, smug smile] And while I appreciate your support, convincing the others of the same is like to be quite the challenge. Karkat, for all his yelling, whinging, and lewd language holds more sway over the others than I. We had discussed our living arrangements when we first arrived, and all the others wished to join him. I don't understand why...

The dilemma of being a leader...I certainly wouldn't want to be. People are far too idiotic.

People in large groups are fools, and they'll usually choose, without a doubt, the option that is the worst for them, uniformly and without doubt.
