[Another drag on his cigarette as he listens to Naoki speak.] It does. But that's selfish of me. He shouldn't have to be trapped here too.

[The last bit of what Naoki has to say though? Makes him smile.]

Thank you. And the same is true the other way too.

[Naoki is a friend. Therefore, Gil will shoot anything that even thinks about hurting him.]

I suppose so. [Here though, his smile changes and he sighs.] Now I hate to say it, but I almost expect the stupid rabbit to show up too. Maybe that wouldn't be entirely a bad thing... [As it turns out, she's quite useful when it comes to keeping Oz safe.]

[She blinks for a moment, stepping closer to her open communicator to get a better look at Gil. She bites her lip for a moment before letting herself laugh.]

At least he's here with you, right? [She pauses, and lifts a hand to waggle a finger at the screen.] You must be talking about Oz!

[Rattrap pops onto the screen, curled up in a ball in a little nest of blankets and pillows in beast mode. The bed can be heard creaking in the background, along with the snuffles and grunts Dinobot makes in his sleep]

I know what'cha mean, sweetcheeks. I'm glad Dinobot's here with me, even if he's... well... [he turns the pocketwatch, giving Gil a glimpse of the restless raptor.] He should've gone ta da Matrix in peace, yanno? Not stuck here wit' a rat like me.

[Gil may juuuust a little surprised to see that side of Rattrap chatting over the communicator. But hey, he's learning to roll with the punches here.]

I wonder though... [Here he pauses before offering something of a smile.] In your case, if being stuck with you isn't exactly what he would've wanted. [...Gil's observant enough. He gets the situation. HE IS IN THE KNOW.]

Oz is... like that. [The boy does cheerful in the face of... well... everything. Sometimes it's worrisome.] But even if it's true, I don't deserve it, after the things I've done.

I am. [He nods at that. Half reassuring himself too.] My master is here now. I'm just concerned about that. ...and about the fact that I'm happier about it than I should be.

That's what I'm trying to decide. [It's tricky, damnit.] I'm glad to see him. I know he's safe if he's with me. But... this place isn't exactly somewhere I'd wish on anyone.
