[The pocket watch opens to show Gilbert seated in his apartment. The lights are dim, but on. He's seated in one of the wooden chairs near the small table, leaning forward so that his forearms rest against his knees. The look on his face is quite serious, nervous, and his golden eyes are wide, fixed on something that the feed is not picking up.So. ( Read more... )

(Neku watches the whole horror with arched brows and pressed lips.)

Umm...cats are scared of water, you know?

...water makes them angry. [He shudders.] I don't want to anger it.

(Ugh! Seriously? What kind of guy is this?)

You know, there are a lot of ways to scare the cat away. You can use mothballs or lemon or shout at them especially if it's as small as your hand. (Or your manliness.)

Shouting doesn't work. [And even Gil, with his rampant phobia, isn't the type to shoot a kitten. Besides, bullets are better conserved right now.]

I don't even know where it is right now. Hiding. Lurking. waiting.

If you feed it, it won't go away.

...it's already not going away though. It already tasted me. [It licked him. He's exaggerating. It's not his fault. He needs therapy.]

It just wants food. If you feed it, it'll keep coming back, because it knows you'll feed it again.

[...Gil knew cats were devious, but that, that's just demonic.]

...I already fed it. What do I do now?

[He blinks.]

But it's already staying. I tried to shoo it out. [He pauses and mutters.] With a long stick.

...you can't know that, Naoki. It already tried. It may be small but it has teeth.

They always do. Because they're evil. Ada's cats always did.

...I can shut the door. ...it shouldn't be able to open a door... right?

Why don't you like kitties.

Because they're cats. [Gil can't comprehend that not speaking for itself.]

They're evil. And dangerous.

You seem to have issues with felines.

[Dinobot's own experience has led him to conclude that cats are essentially harmless, except to their prey. But of course the only cats he's familiar with are Cheetor, who's a child, and Tigatron, who's a tree-hugging pansy. And lions, but lions are cowards.]

...I don't like them. [He pauses before muttering, quieter.] They frighten me. [None so much as the fricken Cheshire Cat. God he was awful.]

Then face your fear! It's a fraction of your size. Don't be a coward.

[Really, why does he even bother giving advice? Most of these people are hopeless.]

[He blinks at that. Wow, that's a pep talk.]

Uh... yeah. Face it. That's what Naoki suggested too. I'm... trying.
